Question about Epson Workforce 610 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I have an error message telling me to turn off the power and turn it back on or call Epson. Epson asked me 2 questions and then told me i needed a new one. It is out of warranty at just 2 years and 2 months old and is only used occasionally for personal use. I can't believe that I need to purchase a new one. Any suggestions? The website and manual do not list this in their list of error message in the FAQ's.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: Epson Stylus CX6400 not printing
Hi, below the belt that pulls the head from left to right is a 'bail bar' which the head moves along. Put a little light oiul on the bar, check for any bits of paper jammed in the mechanism which may be obstrucring the print head.
Also check that the bushes which support the print head haven't been dislodged. You can tell because there will be a strange looking doughnut type thing sitting and looking lost on the bail bar. you can usually just push this back into place on the side of the print head.

I tried two things of which one solved the problem. I am not sure which. Secondly, I have an R260 printer which is a less featured member of the printer family uses Claria inks like R360 and R380. I called Epson and they simply sent me replacement cartridges for the two black ink cartridges with which I had a problem. My printer did not recognize these new cartridges either. I noticed that both the ones I bought and the replacement ones have a slot hole near the green chip on the cartridge. The empty cartridge did not have this slot. They just had some circular depressions. So, I put a piece of masking tape over the slot and tried again but still no luck. However, when I removed the cartridge, this time a small piece popped out. This piece connects to pins on both sides. So, it is obviously an interface between the cartridge and the printer. I pressed this piece back in, replaced the cartridge with the tape on it back it and, voila, it works. Most likely this interface piece was loose and simply pressing on the cartridge didn't get it in far enough or who knows. You maybe able to take thiis piece out and replace it or merely push down on it with a pen but first, flash a light on it first to see if it is not sitting awkwardly.

ALL…. Epson & Brother Requires Genuine Epson Cartridges. !!!!!!!! How you were able to use generic is amazing. I was not able to do that!
In Purchasing Epson's CX 5400, CX4600, & CX7400 and more, I found out that Epson does not like Generic Printer Cartridges. I also Purchased a Brother. That also does not like Generic Print Cartridges. Color that should be Yellow, will turn out Green, Blue Brown, etc. These printers have a CHIP that will detect if it is Generic or Genuine. When they see it’s Generic Cartridges, it will print lines thru the words, stripes across the picture and also do a mix match with the colors.
That's what these Companies do., so they can keep selling the ink cartridges. Some Printers, are able to use Generic, and some are refillable. Some you can refill them up yourself and I heard, quite MESSY.
So I learned, thru trial and error, that you must use the ORIGINAL Genuine Cartridges for these PRINTERS. Some people say some models work fine compatible, but not mine.......
I had to replace the printer, but Epson, Lexmark & Brothers are always on sale. My Brother & Epson cost me $50.00 with Rebate. Don’t waste too much ink in cleaning it.
TRYING PURCHASING GENUINE, and see what happens? This is the only advice I can give you. If you find this helpful, pls rate me.
Thanks and Good Luck :0)

If the lights are flashing alternately and slowly (with the power light off), then the waste ink absorbers are full.
The pads are near the bottom of the printer and can either be replaced (call the service department for the parts) or rinsed clean under running water. The hard part is usually extracting them (you need to disassemble the printer most of the time). Then (if reusing the pads, wait until they are dry) reinstall them and reset the waste ink counter. The reset requires a program such as the one available here: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html . Do not run this utility until the pads are replaced, the ink will smear everywhere. Epson used to have a link for their own reset tool but I do not see it for this printer.
However, the printer is designed that under normally usage, the waste ink absorber will be full at the expected end of life of the printer. Thus additional failures may be coming.
I hope this helps.
