You didn,t have the sub wire up properly, End fried the output transisters in the amp. Or it was not set (Properly)

what do you mean by not set properly? like the gain and such? because it worked fine and then just quit.

Being that you don,t have in your details,What type of amp it is,If it is a mono (bloc) Or a 2 0r 4 chanel amp, Or if it is brand new or not, From experiance From Be ing a certified Electronic TEchnician for 40 (Years) Before i retired , I have repaired more care amps ,Where some one ,Didnit wire up a dual voice coil sub (Properly) That i lost count of them , It not the gain control so much, The other setting if there not set properly, If a amp is bridge can fry it, End yes allso if the gatn control is crank up the amp will only last so long,Before it over heats,

It is a pioneer gm5500-t, which was brand new, class ab, it has two channels, bridgeable, and i do have a dual coil sub, but i wired it according to Kickers specifications for a 2 ohm rated sub to be 4 ohm, and the amp was supposedly 4 ohm stable when bridged. Do you think that the amp is ruined still because of my sub wiring? Also, is it fixable or would it be easier to simply buy a new amp?

  • Rob getz Nov 07, 2012

For what thease place charge labour for repairs, i am srealy sticking my foot in my mouth hear, Buy staying this , Get a different one, If you are just useing it for the sub what i would honestly do is get a decent mono bloc amp, You will get better sound that way, Just don,t get anouther pioneer, They are not the most relible amp i hate to stay.Look for a decent use mono bloc, End make shure You hear it before you buy it, That it is working (Properly) end not just for a couple of minutes, Most amps will not show that there is a (problem) with them.Untill they have been going for a whole, End heated up, Hope this helps you out (Nathaniel) good luck in your hunt for a different one, Me end most of my customers ,Have had good luck with the older kenwood amps ,From years back or evan a little bit (older then (That) They are verry relible,

okay i was thinking on getting a kicker zx400.1 class d amp, because it is kicker just like my sub and the rms and max power ratings match up exactly to my sub's specs. any thoughts on that or should i just go with kenwood?

  • Rob getz Nov 07, 2012

I was really tired when i sent the last message to you last night, End just done it Quicky, was trying to think of some better brands for you, Kicker are usually verry good, There was problems with some of them,About 6 years back,But i have not heard anything about (Problems) With the newer ones, I woud stay yes to geting it, It is 2(Ohm) Stable, End what i would do allso get help with doing it ,I would wire the sub that it is down to 2 (OMS) Instread of 4 (OHM) That way you will get more power out of your amp, End better sound from your sub, Just get some body to help you that no how to do it,

  • Nathaniel D. Colvin Nov 07, 2012

okay i will do that, thank you very much for your help :)

SOURCE: how to hook up 2 10 inch speakers

For best results the output resistance of the amplifier must equal the combined resistance of the speakers. So if the amps says 8 ohms and you have two 4 ohm speakers you put them is series or if the amps says 4ohms and you have two 8 ohm speakers put them in series. If it says 4ohm and you have two 4 ohm speakers best to use only one. It Depends on the output resistance of the amps. It is usually written at the terminals where the speakers are connected.

My kicker 12 inch cvr's arent hitting as hard as they should

amps and wiring kits are very optimistic on the output. If you want proper wire, buy some welding cable "0" or "00" guage. That solves the power delivery. Put a 1 Farrad (or more) capacitor near the amp, that solves the surge power issue. Make sure the box is suitable for the subs. Lastly I'd say do some research and find the right amp that can deliver the clean, huge current required to move some serious air!

2 kicker cvr 12's in prewired kicker box with 1 wire terminal, kicker cx1200.1 amp. Whats the best way to wire this combo?

Well you really can't run both speakers on one term. because you will over heat the amp , unless your amp is rated at twice the capability of your subs , Then if so , Try positive to one sub , then neg. to the other sub , then bridge the remaining positive to the remaining negative terminal , But it is really best to get a two channel amp for your subs !!!

How to hook up two 10" kicker cvr for best sound

If they are single voice coil and are 4 ohm you can bridge your amp and run both speakers off of it so your amp sees a 2 ohm load....better bass that will hit harder....(series wiring) look it up on google....

I have two Kicker dvc cvr's 12's and I want to hook them up to a Kenwood KAC-520 1000 watt amp. Whats the best wiring to wire these?

The best thing to do would be to get an amp installation kit, at an auto stereo store or Wal-Mart automotive department. It will have the wiring and connects that you'll need to wire everything up.

What would be the right wiring on a cvr 12 to 4 ohms i am running a hifonics 2000 class D thanx for the help

Assuming that you have a 4 Ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) sub, you should wire it in parallel for more output. Solid red connects to red with white dot, and goes from solid red to amp positive (+). Solid black connects to black with white dot, and goes from white dot to amp negative (-). For a good diagram, go to this link:

off the same amp? you have two way different sounding speakers man. you can buy 2 identical speakers from the same company and brand and series and they will play differently every time. you have 2 speakers with nothing in common so you will hear a difference and maybe interference because of the different ohm levels.

I have an Audiobahn A8000T amp and 2 12" Kicker CVR (DVC) Dual voice Coil. The Subwoofers are 2OHM a peice. What is the best way to hook this all up to run a 2 OHM load to my subs?

This is a link to Kicker for your CVR12 Subs...if you have the 2 ohm version (2 ohms per voice coil) and you have 2 speakers will need to wire EACH speakers voice coils in series to get 4 ohms from each speaker and then wire the 2 speakers in in....2 ohms in series with 2 ohms = 4 ohms....both speakers wired same way, then in Parallel with each other = 2 ohm load. Page 2 of this link gives examples of both series and parallel wiring of your speaker.
If you are still not sure as to my description of ' How To',
PLEASE respond and I will attempt to explain it EXACTLY via wiring directions.
