Question about Televison & Video
Picture shown is in 4x3 aspect ratio---try different channels to see if any are full screen or 16x9----set should have a aspect button on the remote but be aware if using a box or even not many programs are formatted for the 4x3 which in this case has black side bars----if left for a very long time in that format those can burn the image into the actual display screen.

SOURCE: Screen is stretching on each end
Sounds like the display is in a mode which is sometimes called "Horizon", where they seek to fill the entire 16:9 screen with an image which is originally 4:3 by leaving the center of the image mostly alone and stretching the ends out horizontally. If your remote control has an "Aspect" button you might try pushing that a few times to cycle through the various settings.
