My flotec pt4012 shallow well 1/2hp is leaking water from the pump. please help. It's a yr old

Usually it is the pump shaft seal located where the motor shaft turns the pump. It consists of two ceramic faces that are held together with a spring:

Water pump leaks

It will be leaking from either the housing seal or bearing seal - if it's the housing seal it will be leaking from the edge of the pump, if it's the bearing seal it will be leaking from the centre of the shaft or from a small bearing drain hole.

You may be able to get a housing seal, but if it's coming from the bearing, it will need a new pump...

Flotec Model FP4012-D8 stopped pumping water. I took pump apart except for small impeller housing edge break I can see no reason for no suction?????

Hi jandh40...

You have an air leak somewhere in your piping, housing of the pump or maybe the mechanical seal and that is causing your pump not to pump.
Try to disconnect the piping and hook a water hose up to the pump and turn the pressure on, it should show you where the air leak is by spraying water out of the leak area.

Occasionally a small amount of antifreeze comes out of the hole between the cooling fins on the engine. What's going on?

If pressure builds up in the motor (hot antifreeze) it is sometimes easier for a small amount of antifreeze to leak out past the water pump seal than to go out the pressure cap to the over flow bottle. It is not anything to be concerned about. It happens on most liquid cooled motorcycles. That is why it is often necessary to add antifreeze to the over flow bottle. You do not have to worry about a couple of drops of antifreeze coming out the water pump weep hole. But you do need to be concerned if it turns into a steady drip, then it is time to replace the water pump seal or the water pump assembly depending on how it is sold for your model.

My washer is leaking

If the water is gushing from the washer, check the small plastic air dome hose on the lower right hand side of the wash tub. Sometimes the hose can come loose and come off. This will cause the water to begin pouring out of the bottom of the the washer when it begins to fill. The following link lists some other items you may consider as well:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576648-washer_leak__top_loader

The link explains how to remove the exterior washer case in order to accurately inspect the washer interior components for the source of your leak.

If the leak is more like a constant drip, another common source of leaks with Whirlpool manufactured top loaders is a leaking drain pump. These pumps are not serviceable and if damaged, must be replaced. The following link explains how:

Don't forget to check all drain hose connections under the washer and the center tub seal.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartrsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. the first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

If you have any questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this helps you.

NOTE: Kenmore washers are manufactured by Whirlpool, so these instructions will apply.

Kawasaki Oil Pump Leak

Bad seal in the pump itself. It is like a weep hole in a water pump. It is letting you know it is time to be replaced.

Leak off pump housing

Sidewinder, sounds like it's leaking from the pump gasket or the water seal assy on the impeller. Check the locking ring to the pump housing and see if you can increse the pressure to the tub. Also check the tightness of the motor fan assy. to the impeller assy. tighten if necessary. Pump gasket part number is 912529. Impeller seal part number is 903494. Catriver..post back.
