There is a lever on the transmition of the washing machine that has to be operated by the two selonoid switches that control the agitation. the position of the lever in the guide of the selonoids causes the operation to change. Unplug the washer. Remove the back cover of the machine. Below the tub you will see two selonoids. Each will have a guide that they lift or lower the gear lever which puts the transmition into eather spin or agitate, the two operation cycles of the machine. One of the selonoids has failed, However the entire assembly must be replaced. A 1/8 or 1/16 allen wrench or whatever size necessary to remove the locking screw from the shaft will be necessary. A flat-head screw-driver, maybe, if it is a screw. Remove the locking screw. lift the assembly off the shaft. "replacement is opposite of removal". If you are brave you can plug in the washer and turn it on and observe the operation of the "wig-wag "selonoid. You will see one will fail to lift a pin when the spin cycle starts.

Not spinning or draining, only fills and agitates

the mixing valve in the rear needs to be repaced-it controls the water flow Also sounds like the clutch of the transmision maybe be a factor if the machine doesn't spin

Series 70 fills wit water stops then makes a slight buzzing sound

The electric motor my have failed or a part called a capacitor could be the problem? The capacitor is part of the starting circuit of the electric motor, if this fails the motor will not start therefore the washing machine won't spin or agitate.

Washer fills up fine but doesn't start to wash...

if it doesn't agitate, spin, or even drain, then you most likely have a belt that is off. Of course, now that you have a washer full of water, it is going to be diffficult to tilt back and change the belt, so you might want to get a shop vac and **** the water out through the drain hose first.

With most of the water out, you should be able to tilt the machine back and see what went wrong. I believe on Frigidares the belt is underneath.
