Re: unable to hear other party. Can see myself, and...
Which ever Messenger or Skype you are using has to be setup in order to function. I'll assume
that you are using YAHOO MESSENGER and walk you through the setup. All
Messengers and Skype have an Audio & Video setup in them so the camera and
microphone work properly with their program.
Bring up Yahoo Messenger and on the top left click on MESSENGER.
Then click on "Messenger Preferences."
Next in Category click on "CALLIN & DEVICES."
When that comes up check and check to see that Microphone is set to your audio
Next insure that the speakers are set to you audio card.
Then go to "Test Audio"
In Blue "Open the call setup Assistant"
When the window opens follow the instructions. When finished your camera
audio should function properly.
Also you need to go to the Video setup and do the same so it will broadcast the pictures.
Hope this helps. Bud

have you checked the sound manager to see if it is set up correctly? don't know what operating system you have but if windows XP that is locted in the control in the start menu, select audio devices from menu
trying to contact family overseas via webcam (lifecam vx 3000) they can see me and themselves, but i cant see them only myself, but we can hear each other. using my web cam i can see and talk to my other computer, via cams .
problem like this cause of droping of your device, or pulling it away even your windows working.
now, seems your device experience problem as this, do this to check your audio:
click start>select control panel> select icons Sounds and Audio Devices>
On volume tab>there is device volume click the advanced tab below on it to check your volume control, leave boxes uncheck.
then, check your speaker settings click advanced>tab below it, then select your speaker set up.
then, now check your audio on sounds and audio devices properties click the Voice> tab then
Good luck. hope you can make it. and it help you both. thank you.
This clearly is some kind of device configuration problem..Open control panel->sounds and audio devices->voice
Now click on test hardware and tap on your microphone and see if the sound meter is showing changes..then click next and tap again and see if you are able to hear it in your speaker.
If you cannot just download the latest device drivers for your sound card and that should fix the problem!
Also you can download latest drivers for your webcam here
Try both of these and hopefully you will get it working!
they may need to increase the mic volume in the sound settings, and even better if they are using a laptop it may well have mic boost in the settings.
Tell them also to make sure they set the cam up in the relevant im programme they are using.
