Question about Hoover HTC243 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Machine fills, agitates partially & very slowly for a few cycles, does not Spin, empties water and stops.

I have a Whirlpool front-loading M/c which has recently developed the problem... Machine fills, agitates very slowly for a few cycles then stops at the end of the program when loaded moderately with clothes. But this does not happen when the machine is not loaded with clothes and run only on water and the program cycle is normal. Suresh.

Whirlpool washer WTW57ESVW0 won't fill with water. I bought this machine two months ago was working fine and then just stopped filling water. Spin cycle and drain cycle work but it won't start fill...

Solution for WTW57ESVW0 Whirlpool Washer that won't fill or agitate, but will spin and drain water.

Replacing the Auto Load Sensing Switch (W10177795 - Illus. No. 12 on Control and Rear Panel Parts) fixed the problem.

In addition, a defective switch can also cause the machine to start agitating while it is filling.

It is relatively easy to replace and there are online videos that can help with the replacement.

Kenmore front load washer: 4172952990. Does not spin. Clicks... at the beginning of a cycle it will spin for a few slow spins, then nothing. Had the Sears technician in. Said that it was the Speed...

Our kenmmore front loader is having a problem with the pump. When it empties there is dirt with the water. Is there any way I can get at the pump and clean it? It is working 70% and as long as I have the drain hose on the ground the water will drain. When I shake the hose dirt comes out and sometimes it says F21. Can anyone help.

Washing Machine does not agitate

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Following is the Whirlpool installation and maintenance PDF on how top load, direct drive washers work with a troubleshooting section.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Following is the Whirlpool parts list for commercial top load, direct drive washers although the consumer washers are basically the same.

The problem seems to point to the Agitate Cams in the transmission that raise and lower the Agitate gear on the main transmission shaft. These are relatively inexpensive to replace.

I'd also check the splines on the main agitator shaft and the two pronged "washer" on top of it.

My washer fills VERY slowly and will not stop filling after cycle

It sounds like the water inlet valve is stuck partially open and needs to be replaced. It's located on the back of the machine where the hoses attach.

Soon as i set cycle and swich on door light flashes open

hi,
The cycle doesn't advance
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Thanks for your question.
