SOURCE: I have a Singer Touch N Sew Model 636. The

I had a Golden Touch 'N Sew many years ago and as the machine aged and parts became worn, step 4 of this bobbin winding diagram started to become a problem and I had to sometimes try several times before the "tabs" would release. If they did not release, the machine "thought" it was still winding the bobbin and would not sew.

SOURCE: Singer sewing machine 6215c trouble

The problem is actually with the upper thread not having enough tension on it. Check your upper tension setting,,,it should be set about mid range of its adjustment (4,5 or 6). To see if the tension is functioning correctly thread the machine and raise the presser foot to its up position and pull thread thru the needle. It should pull easily, lower the presser foot down to the fabric and now the thread should become harder to pull. If there is no change in the pull, then either the thread is not in the tension correctly ot the tension is not working,

You are probably out of time. But check to make sure you have the right needle and it's fully inserted first.

Good luck

Singer 2263 loops on top of fabric

try changing the needle
thread the machine, use every thread guide
there could also be something wrong with the tension dial, it would
be a good idea to have the tension dial checked

Whta is the answer to the curvy's thread/bobbin problems. super infuriating

If by "bobbin thread is usually too loose." you mean that you are seeing loopy stuff on top of your seam... then first you need to make sure your bobbin is un-spooling in the correct direction.

Also make sure that the tension spring on your bobbin case is not missing it's screw. Don't mess with the tension there yet... loosen your top tension first... sew on scrap fabric of the same type as your project. Loosen the top tension until you stop seeing loops on top of your seam. If you have loosened it enough to see loops on the bottom... tighten it a bit.

If all else fails make sure you re-thread the top thread with the pressure foot up position so you make sure you are getting the top thread in the tension discs and try test sewing again.

I have a Singer 3140, and I have misplaced the book. I need to adjust the tension so that the threads are balanced, but have forgotten the correct procedure.

Get some scrap of the fabric you'll use.

Remember this phrase. Loops on bottom top tension too loose. Loops on top... top tension too tight. (or bobbin tension too loose)

In your case you need to loosen the top tension until you start to see loops on the bottom... then tighten it slightly.

Here's a manual for future reference

Thread looping on top

I have no kenmore experience sorry as I use a singer and a jones. Although I can tell you that looping on any machine is usually a tension problem. Consult your manual on how to adjust the tension. If you don't have it you can order a manual for your machine from managemylife.com it's a very handy site, well worth checking out.

My singer model 237 makes a stitch that doesn't look right. The bottom thread is just goes through the top thread loops under the material

Hi, if stitches are off, there is a problem with balance between the upper and lower stitch adjustments. You have to tweak these. Also, make sure there is no lint in the bobbin case area or under the feeddogs. Here is an excellent blog for 237 Fashion Mate owners. You are lucky to have one of these from the 1960's. http://blog.sew-classic.com/2010/02/02/singer-237-fashion-mate-sewing-machine-reveiw.aspx

Sewing machine

Simple solution..
take the thread off your machine, set your tension to the middle setting. rethread your machine up to the needle. before threading the needle, put your presser foot down. If your thread pulls hard, then the machine is threaded right. If it pulls easily, you need to chead the thread thru the tension wheel.
Kelley

Rule of thumb.
Loops on the bottom, problem on the top.
Loops on the top, problem is on the bottom.

No tension on my Singer 6212C sewing machine

Take the thread completly off the machine and rethread it making sure it goes thru the tension wheel properly.
FYI Loops on the bottom-- Problem is in the threadding.. Loops on the top, problem is with the bobbin.
