Question about Sony Cyber-shot DSC-S700 Digital Camera

1 Answer

When I go to turn on my Sony Cybershot DSC-S700 it says it's in USB Mode but it's not connected to a computer and won't let me take pictures???

When I turn on my camera it's a black screen that says USB Mode Mass Storage, then there are 4 circles underneath that, then it says Memory Stick under that and then in blue is says Switch on MENU. When you press Menu the only option available is USB Connect in an orange box. How do I get past this part so I can go back to taking pictures?

I would try to plug in your usb cord to the camera and computer and then disconnect it after.. that should reset it.

No such luck :( I have tried that and it still says the same thing. I've also tried taking the batteries out and holding the power button to try and "reset" the camera. Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Use a card reader instead of your camera and you will not have this problem.

Can't download pictures to my computer from my Sony Cybershot W330

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Downloaded driver for cybershot dsc s500, then try to interface camera with computer, pc doesnt see the camera in control panel or my computer removable hard drive.

Sony has the roughest firmware known to man for digital cameras. If running Windows XP or Vista you can simply connect the camera to the USB port and let the computer do the rest. Picbrige works the best for it downloads the quickest. Picbrige will be on your cameras list of choices to use for downloading

Help! Sony Cybershot DSC-S40 won't load to XP Home

Step One: Reread the instructions on how to connect the camera to the computer, paying particular attention to what mode the camera should be in. Step Two: If the Sony instructions don't say what mode the camera shoud be in: Make sure that the camera is turned on and in "Playback" mode (the mode where you can view the photos on the LCD), before connecting it to the computer.
