Signal weak

I'm assuming that your cell phone works fine.

Your cell phone gets its signals from cell towers serving your cell phone service provider, e.g. Sprint, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile.

If you are in a building or elevator, your signal can be weak. Try going to the edge / side / top of a building, like by a glass window to see if the signal is stronger.
Or if your cell phone service provider (phone company) doesn't have a cell tower close to where you are, the signal can be weak or nil.
You can find out your cell phone company's cell tower coverage areas ...by checking their website. If you are at locations where your cell phone service provider has good coverage, you will get stronger signals. Otherwise, expect to get weak signals.
Yes, it's always prudent to check which cell phone service provider has good cell (tower) coverage in areas where you are (using your cell phone) most of the time, and subscribe to that company's cell phone service.

Giffgaff coverage

Yes, the SIM card must be activated in order to see the signal coverage. If it is not activated it will not communicate with the network.

I ve a nokia 2730 classic model ...m using airtel service... when i set umts mode there is no network coverage

This probable if your Network does not have 3G/UMTS coverage in that specific area.

I would set your phone so that it will automatically select 2G or 3G network services (e.g. often referred to as Dual-mode) so that if 3G/UMTS is available and has the best coverage/signal, it will automatically be selected. Setting UMTS coverage only would be very restrictive in many area as the signal is usually weaker (especially in Buildings).

Hope it helps!

100 meter distance of router and cp has no signal

The rule I follow when using a signal booster, is read the manual of my gateway and check the Max range of coverage, if it is 50 meters I'll place my signal extender at 25 - 30 meters away from the Router, if you go to the edge of coverage circle, your signal extender will suffer unstable signal, and would fail to boost the signal.

Sir i have Samsung B209 Set this cell does not show network & does not connect the call so plz send me any sol.................

Welcome to FixYa!

It means that there is no network coverage in your area. In most cases, your operator or service provider is the best source of assistance with issues regarding network coverage.

When you are in outdoors, move your position to find a good signal network coverage area. When you are in indoors ( like building, basement and subway station), change your position by small spaces, or move towards a window.

If other mobile phones with the same operator or service provider as yours does not have a signal too, then it is conclusive that there is no network coverage.

If other mobile phones with the same operator or service provider as yours does have a signal, then you need to upgrade your cell phones firmware. Unfortunately, there is no upgrade available from Samsung's Website http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/mobile-phone/mobile-phone/cdma-phone/SCH-B209ZKAREL/index.idx?pagetype=prd_detail&tab=support

Samsung B209 uses CDMA Technology at 800Mhz frequency. If your operator or provider uses GSM Technology, then your phone will not get any signal.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Have a great day.

When i try to make call it says network not available

This usually means you are not in a good coverage area and you have a bad signal (I always see this on my phone.) With a poor signal, you won't be able to make calls. You can check a coverage map from your carrier if you would like. For example, here is a link to a coverage map (if you are using a GoPhone in the US,) click it and just type where you are trying to use your phone and it will show you the approximate coverage you have. http://www.wireless.att.com/coverageviewer/#?type=gophone&opt=payg

No signals

Hi kccute61,
Network connectin does not depend on the mobile model, it depends on the connection service provider that you have, Network coverage will not be there if you are in a place where for a few miles there are no tower of your service provider, if you are in a place where there are proper power signal and still you dont have proper network coverage then check whether you are in a closed room where no signals can enter, you will get the connection once you come to open places where your mobile will sense the signal,,,,,,,,,

Please leave me comment, if you need further assistance

good luck with your fix,,,
have a nice day,,

A VERY HELPFUL RATING IS APPRECIATED,
Thanks
