SOURCE: Dishwasher will not spray water from arms

Check for utensils or pot handles that may be hanging below the bottom rack and interfering with motion of spray head.
Clean holes with toothpick.
Check temperature at hot water faucet with meat thermometer. If below 120°F (49°C), turn up thermostat on hot water heater.

SOURCE: Lower spray arm won't spin

Sounds like you may have put it together wrong. I would just take the arm back off and make sure that it all fits together right. A little tip for you too. Dishwashers will clog up all the time with water deposits and food gunk. There are all those expensive cleaners out on the market but the best and cheapest way to clean them is with white vinegar. Simply pour it into the dishwasher when it is empty and run it on the pots and pans setting on hot. Always make sure to pre heat your water too by running the sink till it starts steaming. This will make it easier for your dishwasher to heat the water. If you don't, then when you turn on the dishwasher it starts to fill with cold water and has to heat it on its own. Run the vinegar though through it at least once a month or so and it will extend the life of the dishwasher. Hope this helps. Just try taking that arm back off though and putting it back together making sure everything is fitting properly. If you have any other questions feel free to ask me. Good luck.

SOURCE: Lower spray arm does not spin on my bosch dishwasher

How to Check the Spray Arms Home > How To > Appliance > Dishwasher >Check 1x1.gif Caution: Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs.
The pump/motor assembly pumps water up through the spray arms. The force of the water cause the arms to spin and spray the water and detergent mixture into the dish and glass racks. Some dishwashers have just one spray arm at the bottom in the tub, others have a second spray arm under or over the glass rack. Some dishwashers also have a spray tower that rises up out of the lower spray arm to concentrate an additional blast of water.

To access the bottom spray arm, remove the bottom dish rack. Reach in and spin the spray arms. They should spin freely. Lift up the spray arm from the end. There should some play in the arm allowing you to wobble it up and down. Inspect the seams of the arms for splits. If water sprays out of a seam, the dishes will not receive an adequate spray for proper cleansing and the force of the water directed at the door may cause leakage.
The lower spray arm may also have a spray tower. If it does, pull up the center part of it as far as it will extend and let it drop. It should lift and drop smoothly. You can also unscrew the tower by hand to inspect the interior for foreign objects that might clog it.
Remove the upper glass rack as necessary to access the upper spray arm. Repeat the steps above for the lower spray arm. The upper arm may not have as much wobble as the lower arm.
The water source for upper spray arm on some dishwashers may be through a tube which mates with the spray arm when the rack is pushed all the way back. Make sure that the rack is properly aligned with the water supply tube.
If necessary, the spray arm can be removed for cleaning or replacement. Unscrew the spray tower (if any) by hand and remove the bolt (if any) in the center of the spray arm. Otherwise lift and rock the spray arm until it comes off. Keep any washers in the same order as they are removed. To clean, soak it in warm water and rinse with a vigorous spray.

SOURCE: LG LDS5811WW Low pressure out of spray arms

On the LG LDF xxxx dishwasher family, the Vario feature uses a motor/check valve to switch between "full power" cleaning from _either_ the lower or the upper spray arms, never at the same time. So, not seeing the upper arm spin during the lower arm spinning is standard operating procedure.

But back to your problem. Step one would be to remove the filter assembly again and make certain that there is nothing (debris, broken glass) blocking the white areas where the check valve rotates to switch between upper/lower spray arms. A blockage there ~could~ cause impotent spraying/cleaning.

If there is no blockage and the impeller remains in good shape, suspect a failing wash pump motor. Try to isolate the noise to that motor.

Watch for error codes on the display and report back what you find, OK?

Good Luck!

The lower water dispensing arm will not rotate. There is no binding and water is being applied. I do not know if my water volume is great enough to spin and discharge soap water.

Food residue in glass ware after removing from dishwasher

Make sure the upper arm is spraying water as it should. If it is the dirt separator may not be working correctly. It is under the lower arm and separates the dirt while the water is being reused to spray during the cycle. It then gets flushed out when the water is pumped out. Post your model number for more help.

Top rack does not wash dishes.

Possible causes of spray arm inefficiency:
Loading large or tall items in the lower basket which stops the arm revolving.
Upper spray arm split along seam.
Upper spray arm blocked.
Under dosing of powder causing foam and reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
Blocked strainers reducing water to circulating pump, therefore reducing upper spray arm water pressure.
inefficient wash motor impellor (faulty)

Maytag Dishwasher WU482 had a big puddle of water in front of it tonight. Other than the door gasket, is there anything else that could be wrong?

a pluged or should i say a partially pluged lower spray arm nozzle redirecting the water spray under the door causing it to spray water in a direction it shouldn't be, causing your leak.
another spray arm could again have a partially pluged spray hole causing water to spray in a direction it shouldn't, or more forcefully so it blows past the door seal..
the float switch could be bad allowing an overfill, but thats usually more substantial.
best of luck,

Lower and upper spray arm will not turn

If the spray arm is not binding due to worn out plastic bushings, then it could be a lack of water pressure, because it is water pressure which makes the arm turn.
Give it a gentle tap in a clockwise direction,,does it spin easily?
If it does,,then it will be lack of water pressure that will be the cause.
Possible pump wear or failure.

Maytag MDB3100 Soap Dispenser Problem?

Remove each arm and inspect the small spray holes for plugging. Use a vacuum in the center hole and poke out each plugged hole. Unless your vacuum allows wet pick-up, make sure the arm is dry first. Try using a capsule type of detergent instead of liquid. You might have to tear down the lower spray arm assembly to the deck to clean the large screen which may be plugged with water/food deposits. Use hot water, detergent and white vinegar to clean the screen. Hope this helps!

Normally when you have low water pressure and/or cleaning issues, this an indication of a clog in your main wash pump. You will need to remove the lower spray arm and the coarse screen to get to the main wash pump sump. Inspect the impeller area of the pump. This area is usually where accumulations of debris collect and keep the pump from pulling enough water. Things like orange seeds, lemon seeds, bottle cap liners, chicken bones, and jar labels are just a few of the items I have personally found. Although, dishwashers do a good job at removing most food particles, they are not garbage disposals. I bet you will find a clog in the sump somewhere. Let me know if this helps.
