Connecting a soundbar to Phillips TV

Hi, I have a Phillips 47PFL5522D. I want to buy a sound bar but all indications show that the TV does not have any audio output. It was 4 EXT inputs and 2 HDMI inputs, but they are ALL inputs. I can't believe they would make a TV like this without audio output. Please advise if there is a way around this ?

Only some model and brand has an audio output. you can hooked up at the earphone jack of the tv to get audio out.just used a mini earphone plug with output stereo rca plug.

SOURCE: Digital Audio Output on TV

When using HDMI as the source, the Dolby Digital data will NOT be passed through. If you switch your cable box or satelitte receiver to PCM audio it will pass that through.

How dd I connect my soundbar to my TV using the red and white RCA plugs

Hello. On the back of your TV look for RCA Audio jacks marked "Audio Out". Connect the cables from that to the RCA Audio Input on your sound bar. If your TV doesn't have the RCA outputs, see if it has an optical output. Your sound bar probably has an Optical Audio input. You would need to buy an optical cable for that.

Do i need to buy anything extra for my ilive 37' soundbar for my tv? The sound doesnt work with my tv, but the bluetooth works just fine.

You'll need some sort of audio cable to connect the TV's sound or audio output to the soundbar. For the most basic connection, use an RCA-style cable ( like the one found here: http://goo.gl/5F8yLh ) to connect your TV's audio output to the soundbar's input. Most soundbars also have an SPDIF input ( like the one found here: http://goo.gl/2F2rKs ) and most modern TV's have an SPDIF output. Get an SPDIF optical digital audio cable to connect the two devices together. Once you've decided which type of connection to use and have connected the TV's audio output the soundbar, then make sure you select the proper input on the soundbar. That should fix your problem.

Connecting a sound bar

Typically you will connect the RCA audio output jacks to the audio input jacks on the sound bar, but if your television does not have RCA audio output, you may have to buy additional hardware to make the soundbar work. If your TV has a headphone jack, then you will need to purchase an 1/8" Headphone connector to RCA Connector cable from a local electronics or audio store. If your TV doens't have any audio outputs, you may need to purchase a digital tuner box and connect it to your TV and soundbar.

How can I connect a sound bar?

Buy a digital optical cable and plug it in the audio output of the TV and into the audio input on the sound bar. If there is no digital input you can run it with a RCA cable (3 cable red, white, yellow) or just simply an HDMI cable.

I have audio cables going from HD 61g887 jvc tv, to my phillips surround sound system under aux but it is not giving me sound?

hi
you didn't mentioned the model number of your surround sound system, for a better solution its important. any why try the following.

if you are connected the analog audio output of your tv to the system using RCA cable, then go to the setup of the surround sound system and change the input assignment setting from digital to analog.
If your connected the digital output of your tv to the digital input of your surround system using optical cable then, goto the setup of your surround system and change the input assignment to digital (optical) input.

Need help connecting to surround sound to a vizio sound bar

hi,
did u mean connecting the sound bar to ur tv.
u didn't mentioned the model number of ur sound bar.
any how ur tv has only coaxial digital audio out. no analog audio out. the sound bar may have one digital audio input (optical digital input) and 2 analog inputs. if it has coaxial input it may be very easy.find is there, if not u cant link these devices.
if u are using a satellite receiver then u can connect the optical audio out to ur sound bar's optical input or the analog audio output to any one of the analog audio input.

No 5.1 surround when adding a Philips upconvert player to the San

Sounds like you are getting analog signals from your componet cables and a true digital input from your HDMI into your tv.

However that unit is Analog audio input x 1 only.
So i dont think your going to get true digital surround sound.
The problem being

Sanyo =

Inputs: Analog Audio x 1 Outputs: Composite x 1 · S-Video x 1 · Component x 1 · Digital Audio Coaxial x
