Which ever Messenger or Skype you are using has to be setup in order to function. Same way wih AIM. Normal 0 I'll assume that you are using YAHOO MESSENGER and walk you through the setup. All Messengers and Skype have an Audio & Video setup in them so the camera and microphone work properly with their program.
Bring up Yahoo Messenger and on the top left click on MESSENGER.
Then click on "Messenger Preferences."
Next in Category click on "CALLIN & DEVICES."
When that comes up check and check to see that Microphone is set to your audio card.
Next insure that the speakers are set to you audio card.

Then go to "Test Audio"
In Blue "Open the call setup Assistant"
When the window opens follow the instructions. When finished your camera audio should function properly.

Also you need to go to the Video setup and do the same so it will broadcast the pictures.
Hope this helps. Bud

Unable to chat on AIm with camera that is already set up

I am not pleased with AIM as it is diffcult to setup. Try Skype or other messenger4 and here is info to use if you do.

Normal 0 Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

AIM and Microsoft LifeCam 3000 audio issue

I actually used your question to solve this problem! My LifeCam was showing in the drop down boxes and I set the mic to the cam instead of default, closed and restarted AIM and it was working just fine after that. The problem is not with the LifeCam - it is with the AIM settings. Hope this helps

Hello my school has blocked all aim resorces. Do you know any way i can get onto aim?

You can usually use AIM on your mobile phone for free. Most mobile phones come with AIM already installed. If you have GMail you can access your AIM buddy list on there and chat just like you were signed in to AIM. There is also a web access version of AIM on their website.

Broadband will work better and smoother for sure. If the cam has a mic, then it would work for almost any chat system you can get. You will get both video and audio.
