While watching a dvd on our ultravision tv i accidently pushed the channel button on our remote control instead of volume and can't get a picture now no matter what channel i put it on..lost the...

Look for "input" or "source" to get back to your DVD first (it may be AV1, 2, or 3). As far as the TV signal, it depends on what you have, do you have cable box?
Make and model of the TV will help also.

I don't know how to fix your issue but I have the same tv with a cracked glass front. I would be interested in buying your tv for parts to replace my glass front if you are unable to fix yours. Please let me know. Thanks, Dan

The aspect ratio on the HD channels are full screen - which is correct. However all other channels have the incorrect aspect ratio. (reduced size) A solution please???

Many times HD channels will come in more clear, but with a smaller picture or widescreen view. There should be a button on your remote called 'wide' or 'zoom' and it will let you adjust the size on the fly. If you adjust the view while watching an HD channel, and you switch to a standard channel, you will have to change the ratio back. Is my Hitachi 61uwx10b ultravision hd ready digital tv ready when they switch over to digital vrodacasting or will i need a converter box,

This TV will need a converter box. It was made in the days before the digital tuner was required on big TV sets.

Just remember the converter is only needed if you get off-the-air reception with an antenna for local channels. If you have cable or satellite and get your local channels that way, you don't have to do anything. The change to digital will not affect you.

If you are now using rabbit ears or an old worn-out outside antenna, you might think about upgrading your antenna when you get a converter box. Signal strength is very important with the new digital broadcasting. Too weak a signal means no picture at all or one that freezes up or turns blocky. The antenna that worked for analog may not be adequate for digital.

This is normal because they are broadcast in a widescreen format (If they fit the screen the aspect ratieo would be off on the picture!)

Aspect

I have this same problem with my hitachi 55 inch ultravision luckily i have a warrenty still in effect so i called them and they said... Analog channels are not formatted for wide screen aspect (4, 6, and 10 ect.) this is a normal thing don't worry. It automatically returns to 4:3 because analog is full screen only, and it will return to 16:9 otherwise or whatever you have it set to. Nothing you can do but the good news is your TV isn't broken!

there should be 3 sets of video rca jacks on tv or receiver they might have put them on the wrong rca jack in which they just need to be moved over
usually the 3rd set of rca jacks are component jacks not for tv or video but for low output signals say like cameras and only one set of rca's can be used at a time svg on one of them rca's will over power the vid's. so have no picture
