It is a mechanically problem in your player .

You need to open the player and check whether the rubber thread connected to the motor inside the DVD player has moved from its place. If yes then you need to place the rubber thread to proper place.

Also there is chance that the belt is slipping, the mech never gets the "drawer closed" signal, and the disk will not spin. So your dvd is not recognized .

If this problem is happening with several different types of disks and several different types of media then it is a hardware issue. Which means the dvd mechanism will need to be replaced in order to recover from these errors.

Try using a DVD -R or a different brand DVD, often this units do not read well all DVDs brands, or work better with + or - R format.

If the Unit gives the same problem on all DVDs , and you hear the motor spinning, trying to engage DVD to read tracks, then it is a lens problem.

Try cleaning the lens with a claner kit, try a good one with cleaning solution, see here.

If it still does not work, then you need to access the lens and clean it or replace the lens pickup, to do this the unit must be taken apart, and the job must be done by a technician.

Try using different DVDs and eventually a lens cleaner, that often can fix the problem.

Try using another DVD+R if possible a different brand to check if this is not a problem with the disc that you're using.....

If that is the case the problem here is in burning to DVD+R only and its a sign that its going bad already and you may need to check from manufacturer to check for any firmware update....

Try using a blank dvd of a different kind and see if it works with it. The one you are trying to use may not be able to be burned with that burner because it might not be in a format that the player can read or burn on to. When you get a blank dvd into the player that works with it, then you will be able to get to the menu and operate it. If you still can not find a dvd that works with it, then you may need the burner laser replaced for it to work. Try playing a disc and see if the disc plays. If it does not play, then you may need the laser replaced.

When I insert a blank DVD+R to copy a VHS, It reads the disk, says "Unknown Disk" and ejects it. How do I record if I can't keep a disk in the machine?

some discs don't work in some recorders. I always use verbatim, ritek or tdk discs and have very few problems. if the recorder suddenly dislikes a batch of one brand, I'll use one of the others.

What speed of disk did you use? On my older machine if I use faster than 4X it will not accept the disk. Check out your disk an see if the record speed is to fast for the machine.

A dvd is stuck in my player on my tv and the screen reads no signal. What's happened?

Can't help you on what is wrong with the player but to get the dvd out, look for a small hole near the dvd drawer opening. Use a straightened paper clip or a straight pin and insert into opening. This should release the drawer to eject the dvd.

DVD wont initialize, it will not see a disk

Look at your local mart for a laser lens cleaner disk. It has little brushes that will sweep dust off the laser lens, possibly helping it to better read the disks. Failing that, the unit is probably trash. You might be able to find a replacement drive mechanism for it, but it'd probably be more expensive than a new one.
