Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Notebook

2 Answers

I do not know what the function keys do on my Dell Inspiron 1525. I have 12 of them and only three have pictures on them and even that isn't clear as to its meaning. I am afraid to press the Fn key and one of the function keys to see what will happen. Why doesn't something come with each computer to explain how to use the keyboard?

I have just read an article which suggests that the Fn keys do in fact have markings on them, but they contrast poorly and are therefore very hard to read. I suggest that you use a magnifying glass in bright light and see if there are any symbols.

What is the dell inspirion 15 function keylist.

Anonymous,
There are many Inspiron 15's. I will need to know the specific model of your computer to look up the function keys to see if they are different than the other Inspiron 15's.

sometimes you just have to press f2 for the corresponding special functions. For the function keys to work, you need to press Fn + function key.

Hello, My function key on Dell Inspiron M5030 doesn't work; could you help me solve the problem? Thank you.

You have to go to (winkey)- xto get to the Windows Mobility Center and in the function key row, select Function Key instead of Multimedia key. This should reverse the Fn problem.

If an external keyboard functions normally, then replace the keyboard. If the external keyboard has the same issue, then most likely a setting in the regional and language settings

You can buy a keyboard here

Hello,
There is no driver required to use the function keys. You just need to use the function (fn) like a shift key. Hold the function (fn) key and then press the according function key.

Installed new motherboard for Dell Inspiron 1000- blank screen

The F5 and F8 functions are normally used by Windows to shoose between C:\, Safe Mode and normal boot.

Setup is a function of the BIOS manufacturer and it could be any key but is normally F1 or F2 as the screen says in your case.

I don't know what your specific problem is but it is a new board and sometimes they don't survive the installation due to improper handling.
The almost universal use of CMOS technology makes some of the chips very sensitive to static discharge even with countermeasures in place to protect them.
