SKYPE VIDEO PROBLEM To test if the Logitech QuickCam is functioning, check the USB cable; make sure it is connected properly. Then click on Start - All Program - Logitech - Logitech QuickCam and see if you can get the camera to capture your image/video. If this works then the fault is with the Skype configuration. Sometimes the WEBcam settings drop off and the WEBcam need to be selected again. Open Skype - Tools - Options - Video Settings and select the Logitech QuickCam Also check the Audio Settings for the Microphone THEN click on Save. Avoid connecting the WEBcam to an USB hub. SKYPE MICROPHONE PROBLEM If the person cannot hear you then, either your microphone driver not installed or not working OR the microphone is not configured in Skype. To test your microphone then click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - Entertainment - Sound recorder. Then record your voice and then play it back. Just for the purpose of isolation, try to download other application that has a webcam application like yahoo messenger or skype. If it still does not work, most probably there might be a loose connection or simply the webcam itself is defective. You might need to contact Dell to have it serviced.
On the other hand if yahoo messenger or skype works, you can either just used these applications or try to reinstall the software (dell webcam manager).
you can have the webcam workin for only ne application at a point in time also check to see that you have activated the webcam access on the other applications and this time try with the windows firewall and other firewalls deactivated
You need to configure your microphone settings.
When you open Skype click on Tools - Options - Audio Settings and click on Microphone and select the microphone you are using and save the setting.
I don't know the audio/microphone setting for Phone Serve.
I have a Dell Inspiron 1525. I used Skype ages ago and returned to it a couple of days ago. No one could hear me. I researched for 20 hours, downloading drivers, checking EVERY setting possible and NOW have got the ANSWER. The wires in the Microphone Array are fatigued. My microphone works perfectly when I tilt my lcd screen half way down. Go to Webcam Manager, Tools, Audio controls, the microphone has 2 bars which go green when you talk into it. Tilt your screen and watch the bars go up and down. Not the answer you probably wanted but as long as you skype with your screen half tilted everything is good to go
