Question about Emerson Pool & Spa
The shaft is corroded and frozen. Does the pump unscrew from the shaft, and if so, which direction?

If shaft corroded then motor bearing are soon to go and if motor was overheating just replace whole unit less hassle

If I understand your question, your spa pump will not spin up.
I believe your start capacitor has failed. Remove the back from the motor, you will see the black capacitor on the left hand side. There are several wires coming out of the capacitor. Somewhere on the body is a number. Get a preplacement from a FixYa.com advertiser, your community pool supply company or at www.repairclinic.com
Be careful as you service this electric storage device. Also, make sure you wire the new one exactly like the old one.
I believe this minor service operation will get your pump rolling again.

SOURCE: High speed spa pump shuts off
The motor may have a thermal cutoff if the motor draws too much current. Do you have a sufficient large gauge circuit supplying the motore? If not the actual voltage at the motor may drop, causing it to draw more current to make up for the loss of voltage, thereby tripping the motor's protective breaker. I assume the motor will start again after serveral minutes of cooling down.

Is this pump for a 'in ground' body of water or for a fiberglass spa?
Someone MUST make something similar.
If yours is in ground you have many options based upon your filter media and the size of the suction and discharge lines.
If you can give me more information, I can more than lilely answer your question.

Most of these are reverse threaded. There should be a place on the shaft that is flat on 2 sides a 1/2" or 9/16" wrench will fit into the slots. If not look at the back for a place to use a hex key. Hold the wrench/ hex key stationary with the Impeller facing you turn clockwise.
I know this sounds backwards but it should work.
Hope this helps
