I have a CS-4400 Echo chainsaw that wont start. I don't think it is firing

1st thing let's check the spark.remove the plug leave it connected to the wire and ground the side of the plug to the engine. and have someone pull the started rope. watch the gap area of the plug for spark. make sure the plug is gap to factory specs, and hold it by the rubber booth. and the on switch is in the run position. good luck Tom

Troubleshooting chainsaw

You need to clean the chainsaw areas where the dirt has gone with a water hose. You may have clogged up the oil thing that puts oil on the chain. Hope this helps! And yes, dirt will make a chain dull. You might have to replace the chain or have it sharpened.

Mt999 chainsaw. Brand new. Not cutting through wood although blade rotating. Just seems to be burning wood.

If it's all brand new, then sounds like you have the chain on backwards. The angled parts of the cutters should face forward while on the top of the bar.

Lowering idle speed does not stop chain on ECHO SC chain saw?

I will need more information. Will the chain stop if touched to a log? Is it just creeping along compared to the speed of the motor or matching the speed of the motor? Has the saw been used enough to have saw dust build up inside the clutch and keep it engaged?

Are you certain you have the chain on the right direction? Sounds like you may have it on backwards. A new chain should cut easily almost without effort unless it has come in contact with stones or metal or something equally hard. Hope this helps

Brand new chain saw bought from reputable dealer. The CS600. It was missing a part on the oiler and dealer fixed. Now the clutch overheats badly, to the point it acyually smokes. Does Echo have a policy...

Not had a lot to do with Echo, but have always heard good reports, for smoke to come from the clutch cover the clutch would have to be slipping, either due to running with the chainbrake on, or useing with a very blunt chain. To make sure the brake is off, pull the hand guard fully back to the top handle.

After a little use,the chain keeps going slack on both of my Echo 4400,s 16" bar.

It could be dirt in the bar track. If its not getting oil to the chain they will get hot and stretch.Take the bar off and clean out the grove with something like a small flat blade screw driver. If you have air to blow it out its even better.I hope this fixes it.

Echo sc 4400 chain saw can't get to run over a high idle.New plug, clean air filter. Will run above idle if you pull choke out half way but no real power.

Sounds like the carburetor is not pulling sufficient fuel into itself. I assume the high speed needle on the carburetor hasn't been fooled with. You might check the muffler for plugging. Is the chain free and being oiled?
