I press enter and get 2 blacks boxes with a black line in between. I press setup and numbers 5 and 2. I get the same results. I unpluged the printer without results. I changed and cleaned the cartridges.
I want to thank you for your advise it. Your recommendation worked fine. The printer is up and running. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my alert.

My wife had the same problem after changing one of the cartridges. There was nothing in the manuals. After seeing the solution I called her, she tried the fix, and the printer problem was gone. Thanks, to bad HP doesn't have any troubleshooting tips in their manual!!

What is the black cartridge version that you are using on your Lexmark X125 printer? If you are inserting a photo cartridge on your printer, please follow these steps:
1. Remove the black cartridge and insert the photo cartridge. The printer LCD screen will display CARTRIDGE? NONE CHANGED. 2. Press the Options button to select NEW RIGHT and then press Start. The printer LCD screen will now display RIGHT CARTRIDGE?3. Use the Options button to select the STD PHOTO cartridge type and click Start. An Alignment page will then print. When the Alignment page is fully printed, the LCD screen will display CARTRIDGE ALIGN. 15 [00-30] A , where- 15 represents the straightest line on the page; - [00-30] is the value range you can select from, between 00 and 30 - A represents the line in each section. 4. Use the numbers on the keypad to select the number of the line you think is the straightest. As you press the number, the LCD will change to the next line automatically. Select the number representing the straightest line in each section. Source: How to Install the Photo Cartridge in Standalone Mode
To install the cartridges, please follow the steps given below:
1. Press "Setup" until "Cartridge" appears on the display.
2. Press the "Right arrow" button until "Change cartridge" appears on the second row of the display.
3. Press "Enter/Select." Now you may install the cartridges in the cartridge carrier.
4. Press "Right arrow" to select the color cartridge type that you installed, once "Left Cartridge?" appears on the display.
5. Press "Enter/Select."
6. Press "Right arrow" to select the black cartridge type that you installed, once "Right Cartridge?" appears in the display.
7. Press "Enter/Select."
An alignment test page should print if "New Cartridge" is selected.
1. Load letter or A4 unused plain white paper into the input tray. 2. Press Setup. 3. Press 6, then press 2.
This selects Tools and then selects Align Print Cartridge. The HP all-in-one prints a print cartridge alignment sheet and aligns the print cartridges. Recycle or discard the page.
1 Select Print Control Program Cartridges Align Cartridges. For help, see page 8.
An alignment page prints and the Align Cartridges dialog box displays on the screen.
A number appears under each pattern. The test page that prints is similar to the one
shown.
2 For each alignment group on the test page, find the number that comes closest to
forming a straight line.
3 In the Align Cartridges dialog box, enter the numbers you selected on the test page.
4 After you have entered a number for all of the patterns, click OK.
1. Please Load a plain paper.
2. Press and hold the "Scan" button for three seconds.
3. An alignment page prints.
4. Place the alignment page onto the scanner glass.
5. Press the "Scan" button.
6. Once scanning is complete, the cartridge has been aligned for optimal print quality. Alignment must be complete before continuing with any print jobs.
I just had the same issue (align page not detected).
We had just re-installed the empty color cartridge back into the printer (long story but basically we knew we could only print B/W).
The align page printout had a lot of empty spaces around the black lines. This is apparently where the color lines are supposed to print.
Without those color lines, the printer would not detect the align page as color is part of the alignment being done.
Since we only wanted black printouts, I pressed 'cancel' to stop the alignment process, and now we just hit the Black copy button and ignore the alignment prompt on the printer window.
The HP site (enter psc750 in product window) has some helpful ideas as to what the problem might also be. It could be the shipping tape is still on the new cartridge (and preventing the black or color from printing on the align sheets) etc.
Printer keeps trying to perform an alignment after installing a new black ink cartridge fix:
1.Unplug USB 2.Turn printer off 3.Wait 10 seconds 4.Remove paper from paper tray so printer has no paper to print on 5.Turn printer on 6.Printer messages to insert paper in paper tray 7.Press and hold “Setup” and “ Cancel” buttons and press “OK” 8.Should be good until next black ink cartridge change.
You can also bypass the alignment. When the message for alignment displays on the display => Press Setup and Options (or Copy Options ) simaltanious. The last known alignment is used when the alignment is bypassed.
I want to thank you for your advise it. Your recommendation worked fine. The printer is up and running. I appreciate you taking the time to respond to my alert.
