SOURCE: Smartbase MP360 Scanner Not Identified by MS Vista

One thing to check and be sure of is that your printer cable (USB) is definately a USB 2.0 cable. Canon have an issue with their printers with scanners in that the data flow sometimes isn't sufficient when an older USB cable is used. The slightest drop of data on startup or during scanning will cause a stop.

Worth trying and has sometimes solved the problem for my customers.

SOURCE: "There is no Scanner selected,

How did you install the Printer? Did you install it using the CD or Did you download the driver from the Canon Website? Let me know.

Also try scanning from Paint or from any Photo editing program. I would also suggest you to try scanning from the "Printers and Faxes" (in windows xp) "Devices and Printers" (windows vista and 7), if it's driver is installed, it should also show up in the "My Computer" folder.

Awaiting.

CODE 162,0,0 ON CANON D1350

This happens across the range of Canon Printers. The fix is to push the right button! Yeh I have a differing model, but the answer is the same. Go to the printer and select remote scan. Then invoke computer program. Some one has to be boss either the printer or the computer for scanning.

I can make the scanner printer the boss and issue a TIFF scan to the computer. Just push scan on the printer and select computer (it does a push data)

I can make the computer the boss by selecting the steps below:

Please choose what option you require. Ignore the model number.

The error codes 162,0,0, or 255,0,0, usually indicate that you have not selected a scan type at the machine. Please follow the steps below to perform a scan from the image I-SENSYS MF8230Cn:

Verify that MF Toolbox is closed on the computer and press the [SCAN] button on the printer.
Highlight [Remote Scanner] and press [OK]. The screen will show, "Remote Scanner. Waiting online...".
On the computer, open the MF Toolbox and select [PDF].
Click the green [START] button on the [PDF] window. The machine will start processing the scan.

If you receive any errors or need further assistance with the I-SENSYS MF8230Cn, we recommend that you contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

Scanning Multiple pages into one pdf

Scanning a multi-page document as a .pdf file reverts the settings for rotation, selected area, etc. to default for any pages after the first page. This applies to Mac OSX 10.3, 10.4, & 10.5. A simple, but tedious work-around is to scan each page as a separate file and easily recombine them using OSX Preview. Just open the first page, view the Sidebar, and drag-drop the additional page files into the sidebar. Save and it's all one multi-page .pdf.
