SOURCE: How do I attach a walking foot

Okay let's get started.

  • First let's look at the walking foot.
  • Turn the bulky body so that it's away from you.
  • On the left you see a groove that is going to be where you attach the foot to your machine.
  • On the right is a u-shaped arm which you can move up and down. It will go over the needle clamp
Now, let's remove your present foot from the machine and look at it.
  • Loosen the foot screw until it almost comes off. (if it does come off, screw it back on a bit.) The screw is on the left of the foot-bar.
  • On the right you'll see the needle bar with a needle clamp (what you tighten when you replace a needle) on the right of the needle-bar.
Okay the walking foot business.
  • slide the walking foot into position so that the foot screw is in the slot on the right and the u-shaped arm is over the needle clamp, with the needle clamp in the middle of the u-shaped opening.
  • Tighten the foot screw securely, it's going to be under more strain than normal.
  • While you're at it, check that the needle-clamp is nice and tight as well.
Okay, then! There you go... Happy sewing.

SOURCE: Singer 7430

I have a new machine. This is the second the first had the same problem so I exchanged it. It worked fine on 1 project on both machines the next the time it did the following. When sewing stich #8 which is a zig-zag stitch with a straight line on one side, I get the #8 stitch on one the bottom side and the #13 stitch on the top side. I have read the manual, also re-wound the bobbin twice re-threaded the machine twice and changed the needle none of these worked. Do you have any suggestions.

SOURCE: on my singer 9005 the

These plastic presser bar lifters do wear out a lot ,very common,,,,,,,,You can lift it up and file as close to the machine side on top just a couple of stroke son the file will usually give it a surface to hang on and it will stay up ,much easier than changing the plastic lever

SOURCE: How do I re-align the shank on my Singer Quantum XL 6000?

Repair manuals are not avaialbe to consumers. Is the walking foot the one that came with the machine or is it a generic? The original should work,if not the presser bar is out of line and there is so much stuff inside the head end module that it should be taken to an authorized service tech.

SOURCE: I have a singer 6202 sewing machine and I need to

You have to unscrew the presser foot, then attach the WF, using the same screw.

Make sure the lever on the WF rests on top of the needle bar clamp.

Some WF have a two prong lever and this fits around the needle clamp like a lobster claw.

How do I adjust the pressure on the foot, it is leaving teeth marks in the leather on the bottom side

Depends on your machine. A lot of machines have a presser foot pressure adjustment. Your owner's manual is probably a good place to look. Otherwise, you can probably try using tear-away stabilizer "under" the leather to protect it from the feed dogs.

Singer20u33 . I'm trying to sew vinyl and the tension is messed up . It was fine before on other fabrics

Vinyl is a very difficult fabric to sew because it is sticky and tends to grab the thread and hold on to it causing loops in the thread. It would help to use a roller foot or walking foot to help move the vinyl through the machine. Also, try using a very sharp leather needle or top stitch needle. Sew SLOWLY!

Singer Quantum XL 3400. How do I adjust the presser foot to decrease pressure when quilting several layers?

The owner's manual would most likely have the information. If there is an adjustment is is most likely on the top left of the machine or on the left side of the cover (over the needlebar).

If you are sewing slick fabric that shifts under the presser foot, try using a walking foot or a roller foot.

I have a singer 201k sews fabric perfectly but I wanted to do some leather I bought a walking foot attachment leather needles and heavy duty thread but the machine is not stitching properly very tiny...

Sounds like it is still not feeding smoothly, Try putting some clear tape on the bottom of the foot and tissue paper under the leather. Leather is tricky sometimes.

Singer 191d300a

You need to use a Teflon foot for leather, and you might also want to use wax paper both on top and bottom. Leather sticks, and you have to overcome that. Also, you might want to use a leather needle.

When attempting to sew rather thin material the main presser foot has not enough downward pressure to keep the material from sliding around. This is on a Singer 111W. Works fine on leather etc. I thought...

This machine was not designed to sew THIN material. It is an upholstery machine and it will never sew thin fabric very well. You can try a smaller needle(size 16 or less) and shorter stitches. There is also an adjustment to raise and lower the walking foot located on the backside of the machine. It can be recognized by the wing nut holding it in place and that it slides up and down when it is loose.
