Most of this can be taken apart with a screwdriver . The case is a little tricky. You will notice from the side...where the case is split, there are tabs on the inside that you need to press. I poked a small screwdriver through the vent holes to press them and get the box apart.
you need a very fine flat head screw driver and a t10 screw driver
snap the front off the end that has usb
get a nail or similiar look on top and bottom air holes you will see a triangle filled holes these are where the clips are for the sides top and bottom
the back you will see 2 holes 1 end then 5 holes other end push in flat screw driver till you hear a click do this with all holes until back opens then undo clips at front
now you shold have the bottom off
6 t10 screws holding case back to your belly or nearset to you 2 end screws undo and middle 1 these are the long ones
then back 3 screws you will see from the left bottom screw and middle screw same across then right screw a bit furthe down towards you take these out make sure they are the long screws
lid should now be off
under front of dvd drive is silver tape undo this then lift out dvd rom and unclip leads from back of player then 4 pozi screws opens player
Take the top of the xbox off and take out the diskdrive, inside you should see a small rubberband type thing that acts as a conveyor belt, most likely that has snapped so all you need to do is replace it with a rubberband, but be warned, using a regular rubberband will snap within days, try seeing if you can buy a replacment for the actual piece instead of substituting
I have heard that you must be careful with any xbox or else it can be damaged internally (I reckon its a design fault). My friend had his xbox upright and he was lying it down gently so it wouldnt fall and it broke the disc inside. This could be the reason why it is making a bad noise (could be internally damaged). hope i helped!
If you have a valid receipt nintendo will have to cover it under warranty. Provided it just snapped and is not broke because of bad handling. Alternatively order a new case through eBay and just switch the old case with the new one.
