We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

We have the full service manual at our site, which contains the specific safety & disassembly information you'll need here.

If you decide to send yours in for repair, we would really need the front door panel assembly (which contains the keypad, display board and connecting cable) as well as the power board to which the cable connects, as shown in the manual.

If you prefer, you can order part number DPWBFC212WRKZ (CPU/display unit) for $73.33 plus shipping from Encompass here or you can call them toll-free at 866-779-5835.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

otherwise,

A. Unplug oven or disconnect power.

B. Open the back panels and make sure the P6 and P2 connectors are fully

inserted on the appliance manager and on the lower oven user interface board.

- If they are not plugged in, plug in connectors and go to step F.

- If they are plugged in, go to step C.

C. Visually inspect all wires between P6 on the appliance manager and P2 on the

lower user interface.

- Make sure wires are not cut or pinched.

- If the wires appear to be intact, perform a continuity check between

P6-1 of the appliance manager and P2-1 of the user interface board.

Sound like internal fuse or thermal fuse is blown. To get to the fuse, remove the outer cabinet of the unit, which is usually held in place with a few screws. Once the outer cabinet is removed, follow the power cord into the unit. It will take you to the fuse holder, where the fuse sits. The fuse holder is located two or three inches into the unit, and may be attached to a power board.

Replace the blown fuse. Pop it out of its holder and snap in a new one. You can squeeze the fuse clips together with your fingers in order to tighten their grip. Replace the unit's outer cabinet, plug it back in, and test to see if it is running properly.

If this test wont work, then its possible that you have some problem with the Control Board; these are just a few common microwave problems that you may face and what the likely cause is. You will ultimately need to take your microwave to a qualified, certified repair shop to have it fixed if there is something seriously wrong with it that is causing it not to heat or function properly.

Keep us updated.

Why is my brand new Kenmore microwave hood combination 790.8035 making a whirring sound in the vent area when the lower two speeds are activated.

Ok it's brand new, so check if you left any wrapping on it or there could be something inside the vent, loose screws, connection on your hood is not well made if not take it back.

Our home lost power yesterday, now microwave will not work. Clock is working but it's like the panel is locked. Turned off breaker to try to reset and now on display it indicates 8-:44. Suggestions?

You should be sure that you leave the breaker off for about 15-30 seconds when doing a reset.

If it still won't work right, you either have a defective board or a shorting keypad.

Try the rest several times and note whether the display comes up that same way every time or what.

We can help you with a repair either way.

Details of our service are at our Web site, along with a video showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

Feel free to contact me directly with your brand, full model number and symptoms.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

My microwave shuts off after cooking for 1 minute or two. display goes blank and then 3 or 4 minutes later the display comes back on again.

You didn't mention your brand or model number, but it sounds like it may be a noisy magnetron.

See this FixYa solution. even if your model number is different.

Digital display lighting

The solution depends first on the type of display your microwave has. Please refer to the picture. The left side shows a partially defective LCD type display. If you have this type of display, we regularly repair them for $32.50 nationwide. The right side is a VFD type display which is weak due to age. On some brands and models, we are able to get a replacement display tube and repair it to a like-new brightness. Feel free to e-mail me at _ if you have other questions.
