Question about Honeywell MS9520 Voyager - Barcode scanner - portable - 72 scan / sec - decoded - keyboard wedge Handheld Barcode Scanner

How to use Honeywell MS9520 Voyager Barcode scanner as an input device into Excel

I have a Honeywell Voyager MS9520-41-3 with an RS232 cable end which when plugged into the Sam4s cash register works beautifully. However I also want to use it as an input device for stocktaking purposes by scanning a barcode and typing in the number in stock. There are 4 or 5 drivers on the Honeywell site and I'm not sure which one is relevant to my Windows Xp system. Do I need a keyboard wedge or a usb cable instead of the one fitted? If I plug it directly into the back of the computer, it is not detected as an uninstalled piece of equipment. Can anyone help?

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Most barcode scanners will not use a standard mini-din to USB adapter. You need to replace the cable with a USB cable designed for that bar scanner. Here is a Google shopping result for the cable you need. Good luck!

That is a link to the PDF help file for the MS9520. It has barcodes inside that you scan with your scanner to enable/disable certain features. It looks like you should be able to enable Code 39 barcodes by scanning the barcode found on page 2-2 (actually on page 10).

Microsoft Metrologic MS9520 Voyager Barcode Scanner problem

If it is using the MX009 USB Cable it wont scan with the standard configuration. You will need extra configs such as enable Rs-232 Mode, Enable Xon/Xoff handshaking etc..
These can be found on the www.Metrologic.com website which will divert you to Honeywell website

Can't even start Metrologic voyager 9520

The MS9520 with RS232 needs the AC adapter plugged in to operate, the adapter plugs into the serial cable at the plastic "bulge". Cable part number is 53000c-3
Hope this helps, Terry @ TAG Technical INC
