Question about Xerox Phaser 8400 Laser Printer

Have stripes of blurriness in middle and down sides of pages

Dropout of blocks on test page in vertical stripes at the sides and in the middle. have used your advice to clean the parts I can get to, and did not see any improvement. Then the IT helper I have downloaded your directions for dealing with smears and went through everything with no results.
Do I need a new drum or something?
Is the expense of repair worth it?
Otherwise the printer is reliable and fast.

Another thing you might help with is how to adjust/calibrate the color. I have a MAC G5 running OSX and have apple cinema HD display; the colors on the printed matter are always washed out compared to the screen with reds coming out brown, yellow not bright enough.

Are these problems related?

If all that did not work, then you need a print head. They are pretty exoensive, If you purchase one from Xerox it will be in the 700 dollar range. You can look for secondatry markets, but I am not sure who they would be for Phaser solid ink printers.
The dry ink, ( poweder) ink phasers make better prints than the solid ink printers now. I would look into one of those if you are looking for exceptioinal print quality with a much more reasonable cost factor.
They have developed an ink where the particles align, The quality is remarkable.

Brownish stripe (vertically) down the middle of the page


Replace the drum. the toner is in tubes, and uses a common drum. the drum is replaceable. Go to your local refiller, and get it done quickly.

I have a HP 2035 lcd monitor that has a 3cm yellow vertical stripe running though the middle of the screen.


I have smth same... my monitor as gets warm, has a vertical stripe that become blurry, then it becomes worse till the white or black striped, like a zebra line appears? Some electricians have changed the condensators, have put the radiators to reduce the heat, hell knows what is with it, I really like it but no1 can fix it... any1 have any ideas?

HP Laserjet P1006 prints with blank white stripe down left side


Clean the Corona Wire carefully to remove any residue. As the charge on the wire is effectivley masked it cannot deposit any toner to the page and will result in a consistent white vertical stripe.

I changed the black toner cartidge for the first time and immediately got a multicolored stripe all the way across from top to bottom on the middle of the right side of the page. I replaced the toner


Vertical streaks or bands appear on the page.

One or more print cartridges might be low or defective. If you are using non-HP print cartridges, no messages appear on the device control panel or in the HP Toolbox. Replace any low print cartridges
Marks repeatedly appear at even intervals on the unprinted side of the page.

Internal parts might have toner on them. The problem typically corrects itself after a few more pages. The paper path might need cleaning. Clean the device. The fuser might be damaged or dirty. Clean using instructions in HP Toolbox.

Black line down the middle of scanned documents.


Try leaving the cover open and run a test scan, once with a fresh sheet as the item to be scanned and then a second time without anything on the table.  You may see what is blocking the light source or possibly a defect in it.
Scanning is done left-right, left-right across the width of the page and the vertical stripe indicates that the blockage is present during each scanned line.
In servicing copiers and multifunction machines, I have found a number of curious contaminents, one of the most annoying was a moth, still alive, that would randomly sit on the lamp, causing some pages to come out OK, others not. 
If your copies and printouts are coming out fine, then only the scanner can be at fault.

Test Page blachy, text faint, supplies staus page bar vertically spotted


Have you tried the toner cartridge?? IF not please do so. Failing this clean out the middle of the machine with a dry cloth as you may have loose toner in there. Try this if it doesn't work then the laser unit may have a fault.
