Camera shuts down to blue screen and message "push the reset switch"

Hi, I have had this cmaera for just over 1 year. It boots up OK for about 25 seconds, then it goes to a blue screen with the message "push the reset switch" and starts to go beep-beep, beep-beep. Beeps last about 10 seconds. Then if reset is not pushed it shuts down after another 20 seconds or so. It does not matter in what mode the camera is set, the same thing happens every time. Removing battery, leaving it for a day or two and then rebooting and resetting date & etc, did not help. AC adapter or battery does not change it. If camera is in a dark room (or lens cap is on),it stays on about 5 to 10 seconds longer. Using the viewfinder or LCD screen does not make any difference.

SOURCE: head cleaning.

same problem in SHARP camcorders.

SHARP offers no satisfactory solutions.

Possible SHARP does not even manufacture a head cleaning tape.
If they do it is TOP SECRET.

I will never buy SHARP again.

SOURCE: "Push the reset switch"

I have the same problem with my new Panasonic Camcorder, and found out the problem came from using a mini DV tape rewinder to rewind the tapes (all brand new). It looks that the camcorder does not read the length after the rewinding. I spent an hour to forword the tape to its end by a pencil then the error is gone. Not a good solution but there is a reason.

SOURCE: error message "push the reset switch"

Set the cam. to whatever you're going to do, record or play. Check the DV tape record/play tab is in the correct position. Turn cam on. open clamshell; insert tape correctly and always push PUSH to close and start the loading sequence.

A couple of things to avoid. When playing a tape, never press tape rewind without pressing stop tape first, the cam. will likely jam. Reported here early last year.

Make sure the cam. strap is pulled clear of the clamshell when opening it. It needs to open fully to start the transport opening sequence. Don't repeatedly load and unload the tape without running it

SOURCE: Will not focus

Sounds like one of the capacitors on the electronic circuit board is defective. Power is not getting to the auto focus motor. Was the camera dropped recently or placed in a wet/moisture-rich environment? Try taking the battery out and leaving the camera in the open, exposed to light and flowing air for a day. If it is a board problem, the cam will need to be opened and the board tested and certain parts expensive proposition. Cam replacement will be a much cheaper solution. Check ebay or craigslist for a cheap replacement. Good luck....

Pull the battery out to reset it. Get a DV tape cleaner to clean out the tape deck.

That should solve both.

How can I take off old titles like happy new year, when I am trying to record a sport event.

2 ways:
1. The titles come up based on the date. So Jan. 1 will show "Happy new year", Dec. 25 "Merry Christmas" etc. You can correct this by changing the date on the camera with the menu button.

2. There should be a title button somewhere that lets you display each title programmed in the camera. Just keep pushing the button until you find a blank screen.

SDR-H40 HDD Camcorder won't turn on

I have had mine for 1 year, two months. Earlier, it booted up, and I scrolled by date to locate some older footage. Then the cam just froze up. It wouldn't power down, so I removed the battery. Replaced batterie, and booted it up, located my older footage, and it did the same thing again. Now, when I power it on, the light blinks, the "access HDD" light stays on, but it won't power up, and my computer does not see it. It is also not making that "camera on" sound that it did before. I love this camera and have never had a problem w/ it. This just happened all of a sudden. Any ideas, anyone? I even pushed the "reset" button, but even though it lights up, it won't boot up.

Problem with Panasonic Camcorder NV-DS28

From speaking to a repair centre this is a very common problem with Panasonic camcorders.
I got the impression it was a panasonic problem with a connector that needed either cleaning or replacing.
There are 2 fixes, one is cheap quick and temporary.
The other involves sending the camcorder away to be professionally repaired, it should cost the minimum fee, which was £50 in 2007.

As for the cheap version, it involved turning the camcorder off and hitting it against a copy of the yellow pages and turning on again.  This worked for long enough to record my 2nd daughters birth.

Tape wont eject, play, or rewind. It tries, but soon the message to push reset comes up. No help. Camera works ok otherwise.

put the camera to your ear , power it up and listen ! if it sounds . . . jerky ? your tape is stuck to the heads ( not easy to get out , cassette may be toast and - time is money ) ; if you hear whirring sounds ? before shuts down your cassette housing may be bent ( will need disassembly etc . but not usually expensive ) because - if it is a loading problem , it will usually eject ;

"Push the reset switch"

I had the same problem with the 'push the rest button' on the display after the tape mechanism jammed up against the tape compartment cover. I figured there was probably a mechanical error, possibly a switch. I dissassembled the camcorder and found the tape compartment cover switch was sticking. Here's how to fix it with some photos to illustrate:

1. Open the tape compartment door and remove the screws in the small plastic cover (fig. 1). Remember to look a which screw came from each hole as they are all different.

2. Remove the plastic part from above the tape mechanism (fig. 2)

3. Remove the screw above the front grip belt mount (fig. 3)

4. Remove the screw above the mic (fig. 4)

5. Remove the battery and take out the screw at the top left under the viewfinder (fig. 5)

6. Take out the screws under the LCD monitor (fig. 6)

7. Remove the two screws from the front underside of the camera body (fig. 7)

8. Now you can slide the front of the camera, together with the curved aluminium top section away from the main body of the camera (fig. 8)

9. It is possible to reach the switch with the front moved forward slightly, but it is possible to take the front off entirely by removing the wiring ribbon with the green tab (fig. 9)

10. Clean the brown switch at the bottom left of the exposed camera front with a soft brush/air (fig. 10 )

11. Reassembly is the reverse of the above procedure.

Hopefully this will mean no more frustration with the 'press reset button' screen.steviedeee.jpgsteviedeee_0.jpgsteviedeee_1.jpgsteviedeee_2.jpgsteviedeee_3.jpgsteviedeee_4.jpgsteviedeee_5.jpgsteviedeee_6.jpgsteviedeee_7.jpgsteviedeee_8.jpg
