SOURCE: No heat!
I took your advice and got someone in this afternoon. He replaced the pump there and then and all is working well again. He charged £135 for the pump plus labour. It was the best price I could get after ringing around a few other companies. I wish I was a plumber and could charge prices like that!
Thanks a lot for your help.

SOURCE: when the gas boiler comes
This is caused by a weak flame sensing device. As main burner ignitin occurs this creates a roll out condition , when this condition occurs it derives oxygen from the pilot light thus reducing flame signal and causing the pilot to drop off momentarily.

after you relight have you tried to leave the gas valve on pilot for 10 to 15 minutes so the themolpile warms up enough to send mil-volt signal. you also have a thermocouple that senses flam so if the flame is not hitting that just wright it will shut off. Is this fire place ran off a thermostat or a on off switch. If you are running off a thermostat then i would try to find on/off switch and try that. You might have to change pilot assembly out.If you do this and don't have manual i would take a picture of the log set up so you put it back together. Make sure all connections are tight when you go back together
