Dear All,
I need to replace an 20G HD with an 80G HD on a Toshiba Equium 3200m desktop pc (PIII 500MHz, 256M RAM). When I remove the 20G HD and plugging the new 80G HD the pc can't find the HD. COuld you please advise how to solve this problem?

Your old motherboard is not capable of recognizing the new drive without some help. Go to the drive manufacturer's website, download and run their utilities to pre-configure your drive and allow your BIOS to work with it.
On such an old system you may not be able to do it at all. But should you post your drive make & model someone may be able to at least point you in the right direction.

From all of the specs, it appears that is motherboard only supports up to a 20GB drive. The way to add this drive is to buy a separate hard drive controller, but honestly that is a waste of money. By the time you finished adding pieces and parts to get everything to work, you will have replaced so much that you could buy a new system and alos have issues wiht some things not working.
Dell has a low end desktop for on $399 and you can find some things even less than that in their refurb section, with a warranty, for less.
