Normal 0 Driver could be corrupt.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and reinstall the CD software program that came with the printer. When the software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud

Unable to detect or use cd drive

This is a common error caused by a corrupt Registry entry.

Try this.

Start Registry Editor (Start, Run and type in regedit then click O.K)

Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

Quit Registry Editor.

NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value, if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need to reinstall that software.

Restart your computer.

Could not open key

did you do this installation through the CD. If so go to the HP website. Download the drivers only for the printer and install the printer via the add printer option in you printers window via XP or Vista. You might be able to add the printer by using the CD too just add it the manual way via add printers not through the CD automated installation process. I never use the CD because it installed all this useless programs and stuff you will probably never use. just install the drivers for it.

Need registry key to to install printer

Assuming you are running Windows XP, you may be able to repair this issue if you "restore" your computer to an earlier date.

This is a process by which Windows remembers a time when your computer functioned properly, and sets your computer to those settings. Most of the registry problems can be fixed in this manner.

To access Restore feature, click Start and find Programs, then Accessories, then System Tools, then System Restore.

A window should open that asks if you would like to create a restore point, or restore your computer to an earlier date. Choose this later option.

The next screen should show you a calendar. The dates which are bold are dates that you can choose to restore your computer.

You may not fix the problem on the first try; so choose the most recent bold date, and restore. If the printer still will not install, repeat the process with the next older date.

Unfortunately, if this process does not allow you to repair your computer's software, a reinstallation of the operating system may be required.

Good luck....tony

Re-installing error 1606

Delete the key (registry path) listed in the error from the Windows Registry, and run the installation again.
or if that doesn't work, I read this from another post.

Try the following to fix the probelem:
1. Run regedit.
2. go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
3. In User Shell Folder find the Value Name "Recent" and rename it to say "RecentOld".
4. Next create a Expandable String Value.
5. The value name will be "Recent" and the value date will be "%USERPROFILE%\Recent".
6. When your done your entry should look like this:

Name: Recent
Type: REG_EXPAND_SZ
Data: %USERPROFILE%\Recent

This should take care of your problem.

You have to install a programe called: ABBY FineReader 5.0 Sprint. Although there are newer editions available, this is the programme that comes with the cd and is available to download free of the net. Hope this helps.
