Is the unit responding to remote instruction at all? It does sound like your board is gone. This is usually a capacitor (blue or green and round flat disc) on the pc board, and possibly one of the diodes (small black cylindrical shape with a white line on one side) Often it is the compressor drive relay (rectangular black box) on pc board. If however you have managed to find a replacement board. The plastic heads holding the pc board are released by using a small long nose pliers and pinching the bit sticking through the board. The rest is simply a matter of changing one wire at a time from old board to new board. Or a good method is just to take a snapshot with a camera to refer to regarding the wire positions.
