Gb2312_unicode.dic missing All of a sudden when I turn my lap top on I get this message, gb2312_unicode.dic missing. How can I find it. Restoring hasn't helped. It seems to coincide with not being able to open control panel without the computer jamming up.

I deleted some programs that I had downloaded recently but did not want to keep. Since then when I turn on my laptop I get the message gb2312_unicode.dic missing. Also every time I try to access the control panel the laptop jams up and has to be reset. Everything else works fine besides the control panel.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

SOURCE: No sound from my Toshiba lap top 2405-S221

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

I seem to remember that this particular model/series has a 'Sound Volume Control Dial' between the indicator lights and the headphone jack. Perhaps it just needs to be adjusted/turned. Of course the you could also verify that the soft controls (Volume Control and Wave) are set to your desired level and not muted. To check, double click on the speaker icon.

Pls post back updates on any developments. Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

SOURCE: MY LAP TOP MESSAGE SAYS... 1782 DISK CONTROLLER

You are getting this mess because the system is not able to detect a boot partition on the hdd or may be it is not able to detect the HDD itself.

Try to remove the HDD(hard disk) and re-seat it, Also make sure that there is no disk in the CD drive (in case the first boot device in the BIOS is set as CD drive).

Go to BIOS by pressing F10 (system setup) and check if the HDD is detected in BIOS.

Try to run a recovery by pressing F11 on first screen after power on.

Please get back for any further assistance.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

SOURCE: my toshiba lap top keeps displayin the message

It seems your system is infected by virus... you need to run a virus scan with an up to date antivirus.. boot into the Safe Mode with networking and see if you can give a try with this or not.. Good luck.. nonontech@gmail.com

SOURCE: no appear in my deskop

Hello,

The ialmnt5.sys file is a driver file for video cards. The best solution in this case is to reinstall the video driver.

Go to the manufacturer's support website to download the latest drivers for your device.

Here is the link for your laptop drivers : Satellite M55-S135 drivers.

Make sure to select the correct OS version to get compatible and working drivers.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: i have a horizontal white

Hi,

Just boot to BIOS (either by pressing Del, F2, F10 (depends on the laptop brand).. upon turning on the unit). If the white lines appear, your problem is with the LCD screen.

If no white line in BIOS, install an updated driver of your video card. However, if installing the driver doesn't help, your video card is faulty.

Hope this helps,

How to reformat lap top

Don't do it unless you've got ALL the drivers for your new install-and I mean ALL the drivers. If your manufacturer hasn't got them available to download, then you'll end up with a doorstop.

What does a c on the dic mean?

Your vehicle has a Driver Information Center (DIC).
All messages will appear in the DIC display located
below the speedometer in the instrument panel cluster.
The DIC buttons are located on the instrument panel,
to the left of the instrument panel cluster.
The DIC comes on when the ignition is on. After a short
delay, the DIC will display the information that was
last displayed before the engine was turned off.
The DIC displays trip, fuel, and vehicle system
information, and warning messages if a system problem
is detected. The bottom line of the DIC shows the
shift lever position indicator. See Automatic
Transmission Operation on page 3-23
for more
information.
If your vehicle’s DIC has these features, the compass
direction and the outside air temperature may also
display on the DIC when viewing the trip and fuel
information. The compass direction appears on the top
right corner of the DIC display. The outside air
temperature automatically appears in the bottom right
corner of the DIC display. If there is a problem with the
system that controls the temperature display, the
numbers will be replaced with dashes. If this occurs,
have the vehicle serviced by your dealer/retailer.
The DIC also allows some features to be customized.
See DIC Vehicle Customization on page 4-66 for
more information.

Shows bad dics all the time

I have finally fixed ya you BAD DISC error message on the Polaroid PDM-0743 ok, listen carefully, first try cleaning the eye lens in the dvd player with a Que Tip with "distilled water" or with "rubbing alcohol" and then let dry, put movie in, turn power on, and it MIGHT WORK? but my guess it will still say BAD DISC, so if that happends it's take apart time you will only need one tool

Take out the battery and Flip the unit over where the DVD players LCD SREEN is sitting on your lap you should find alot of black screws just un install the screws on the back

but wait take this sticker off too.

and after that

Ok we had a after shock from the earth quake and now my lap top is having problems it said that ntldr is missing and i put in the dic and still i cant get it off to make it run what do i do

Very strange case...

May not be due to the tremor...some thing else may also have accompanied ...like sudden power outage, surge, etc.,

This seems to be a problem due to corrupt OS

Please put back ur windows installation CD and select repair in the second step. DO NOT GO FOR 'AUTOMATED SYSTEM RECOVERY' - SINCE, U DON'T SEEM TO HAVE A BACKUP SET READY :)

Come back if u need more details

bye
