Question about GE Profile Spectra JGBP90 Gas Kitchen Range

Oven shutdown I recently obtained a used Dacor double wall oven, the top oven of which is a "true" convection oven, marked "Convection Plus." This model has dials for the oven controls, and the dial to set the cooking mode for the convection oven lights the top and bottom burner (broil and bake) mode indicators together when the dial is set to the off position. I lack a user's manual for this unit, but I think this might be an error indicator. The primary symptom is that attempts to start the convection oven in any cooking mode end about two seconds later without any power being delivered to the heating elements or the convection fan. The readout simply eliminates the temperature and mode, and the whole unit turns itself off. I would appreciate any guidance you might have about how to diagnose which of the circuit boards might be delivering this error, how to diagnose it, or what experience shows will get this marvelous unit working. So far, I have pulled the lower element to check for wire burning or bad connection, but see nothing amiss. I have also checked the circuitry underneath the top cover, found two fusible links that were fine. The top oven is in beautiful condition -- apparently this problem plagued the previous owner, because the bottom, conventional oven is dirty and obviously hard-used. Thank you for any help you can provide. Chris

I wound up speaking with a Dacor repairman, who noted the model I had was notable for blown boards, and the boards were no longer manufactured.

Not sure about this one but it sounds like there may be a door switch on your model which is either a probe that the door hits off or it is a micro switch in the side of the oven that the hinge is supposed to strike off.look for these switches to see if connection is being made.

When trying to thermal/radiant bake, convection fan at the rear does not stop turning after the preheat. Why doesn't this happen? Isn't it then convection baking?

Most wall ovens have a cooling fan that comes on when the oven has been on for some time. It is separate from the convection operation. It should shut off after the oven has been off for a time.

My dacor microwave convection oven won't turn or heat but but the exhaust, time etc. works.

I found the answer on other posts on this website and it saved me $500! I had the same problem with my Dacor Model ECD2278 double oven. After I ran the self cleaning the top oven would not come on and the lower oven ran almost double the temp that was set. To fix: disconnect power to the oven at the circuit breaker. Open the oven door. You'll see the grille/grate/steel cover in front of the door latch mechanism, and it should have about 4 screws holding it in place. Remove the screws then remove the grille cover. On my model the tiny red reset button was on the right side on top of a black plastic round piece which is about 1" in diameter. Press the little button down til it clicks.

Dacro Wall oven (electric) does not heat past 345 degrees on bake or convection bake but broiler works and bottom oven works fine (for bake, convection bake and broil).

it could be the oven temp sensor rod located near the top of the inside of the oven,or possibly the bake element has a hot spot on the element and can no longer pass enough current thru this spot to correctly heat to your settings a hot spot on the element will look discolored in this area

My upper oven/ convection function on my dacor ecs230b will not heat

Bake and convection bake settings both use the bottom bake element to heat. It would be unusual for bake to work without conv. bake working. You also have pure convection which uses a different element surrounding the conv. fan on the back of the unit. If you press a feature and nothing happens it's the touch pad. If it comes on then turns back off it's probably the ERC (clock). If it comes on and wont heat only in pure conv. possibly an upper relay board or element problem.

Double oven / convection not working

It is likely that the convection element is burned out and needs to be replaced. If all other functions are working then this is the place to start. Teh back panel inside of the oven can be removed by removing the 4 visible philips screws on it. The element should look smooth and round, if not then it needs to be replaced. Be sure to turn power off to the oven before replacing it. Remove the screws that fasten the element to the back wall and gently pull the element away from the wall an inch or so. the wires will be exposed and can be unclipped from the element do not let them fall inside of the back of the oven or you will have to remove the oven from the wall to get at the back panel. Install the new element in the reverse procedure. If the element looks good then it will have to be tested with a multimeter to verify that it is still good before proceeding to check the selector switch for burn marks.
