Question about HP Photosmart C6280 Printer

1 Answer

Having problems hooking my printer up on a home network using a wireless router. I have a desktop computer that has a printer hooked up to it through a USB cable as a local printer. My desktop accesses the internet through a home wirless router, as does my laptop. How do I share out this printer, so my Laptop can print to it? I have a network set up and can see the shared printer from the laptop, but when I install the drivers for the printer that I got off the HP website on my Vista Machine it won't find the printer. Please help!!!!

    I am having the same problem only we are using all laptops and no desktop. I have tried using the USB cable and hooking up that way. The printer has worked occasionally, but when I shutdown my computer or the printer, the next time I try to print, it doesn't work - grrr! Very frustrating.

You are using the wrong cable. Connect the printer to your router with an ETHERNET cable - not USB. Then then printer will have an IP address. Then it should be able to connect without the intermittent off and on that you have been experiencing.

How can i networked my kyocera taskalfa 180

You only have a usb 2 connection.
You can hook it to one p.c and share out the printer to other p.c.s.
You could invest in a router that has provision for sharing out a usb printer connected to it.
You could invest in a USB printer server. see http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutions/connect/print-servers/dp-301u-10-100-ethernet-usb-print-server. However you need a ethernet network already in place with your other computers. You can connect your other p.c's via ethernet and use a network switch device to connect all devices to one another if you do not have a network or use a wireless Router and wireless adpaters or p.c's but no more than 4 p.cs on wireless.

Can the Dell 3110cn have a wireless connection to a desktop?

Your question does not make sense, but I will try. This is a great printer. You have three options. You can purchase an add in wireless card that plugs into the main board in the printer for a stand alone wireless printer. You can connect an Ethernet cable and run it right into your router, and your router will assign it an address. You can also just hook it up via a USB cable to your desktop, and share it, and your desktop. You will want to establish a Home Group if you have not done this yet, with all home computers on your homegroup using the same password. You can do this with any printer, you just need to share it.

How to hook up a wireless printer to a computer

Does the printer also have some "wired" interface (parallel-port, or USB-port)?

If not, then you need to purchase a router with wireless capability:

1. Connect cable-modem (or DSL-modem) to the 'WAN' (or 'IInternet') port on the router.

2. Connect one of the 'LAN' ports on the router to the network-port on your computer.

3. Configure the wireless-adapter inside the router:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your wireless network
* encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* a password for your network

4. Configure the wireless printer to connect to that SSID, using the password

5. On the computer, click "Add Networked Printer"

6. Print a "test" page: computer -> wired -> router -> wireless -> printer

Is there a way to set up my Lexmark x5650es so i do not have to use a usb cable?

This printer comes with a Inbuilt wireless port and alsoa ethernet port. You can either configure it to be used with your Wireless router and make this a shared device or you can connected it to your router using a ethernet cable and then you can access it over your network. Assuming you have a wireless router and the expertise to configure a wireless printer. If not consult the user manual.

Please rate if helpful.

Thanks

Can I set up a wireless connection between my laptop & printer?

You would attach the printer to the desktop pc and share it out with Sharing & Security. Once your wireless laptop is connected to same network, you will need to go to Start => Printers and Faxes
Then, click Add Printer, then select Network Printer and hit Next. Hit next again and it will look for any printers on the network. Depending on your os and setup, printer should be in the list. Once it is found, highlight it and press Next > and follow the remaining two prompts, finally hit finish. Reply back if you are having a problem setting it up and I can furthe assist you and/or logon remotely to watch or give a hand. - Dan Maresca Jr

How to hook up this printer wireless to my main computer

Hi jjank740;

First off, did you try to recycle your printer? Turn it off and back on again. Sometimes power outages can disconnect that printer. If that doesn't work. Go to the printer and access the system network configuration on the led panel. Type in the WEP number and password again, and let it search for the connection. That should do it. Once it's connected you'll see the blue wireless indicator turn on.

Good Luck
