My cable modem is not recognizing my router/phone adapter.
I found out today that the reason why I'm experience upload at dismalspeeds (45 to 128 kb/s) is because my Comcast cable motorola modemSB4100 is not recognizing my Broadvoice SPA2102-R linksys phone adapter/router. When I disconnected the phone adapter/router my bandwidth went from6mb/s DL/ 110kb/s UL to over 12mb/s DL/ 1.5mb/s UL. My computer is a Compaq Presario P4 HT with Vista Basic. Is there a way toforce my modem to accept my phone adapter/ router?

In general, wireless computer connections are reliable. But nothing is perfect and sometimes you lose your connection or experience a weak signal. There are several factors affecting the reliability of your wireless connection. For example, if your wireless adapter is too close to 2.4 GHz cordless phone, you may experience a decrease in the computer's wireless single strength. Why? Because the phone and computer are on the same frequency and can interfere with each other performances.
Handy Repair Checklist for Wireless Interruptions
First check to see if your cable or DSL is absolutely working. Usually amid in your basement, best modems accept four lights. You accept a alive Internet connection if the "data" or "status" ablaze is on. If it's off, or flashing, your cable is out.
If your cable/DSL is working, afresh reboot your computer. Sometimes, if your cable/DSL goes out for alike 10 seconds, your computer and the wireless router may no best be able to allocution to anniversary other. By rebooting your computer, a new IP address is assigned, acceptance them to already new communicate.
If your desktop is wireless and you've confused the wireless adapter, again you may charge to move the adapter until you acquisition a stronger signal.
Unplug the modem and let it sit for a few, then plug it back in. If this does not work, check your power socket to make sure it is live. There are times when the power adapters do fail. My main router adapter failed out of the blue a few weeks ago. I had the same experience, no power to the unit, even though it was plugged in.
If you electrical outlet has power, then I believe that your power adapter may have failed.
I wish that there were another answer. But, I would rather it be the power adapter that fails, as compared to the modem itself failing.

The Cable modem must be disconnected from the computer. You cannot use USB and Ethernet at the same time.
1. Turn off power to the Cable Modem and the Netgear Router. Do the same with the computer. 2. Connect an ethernet cable from the modem to the router's WAN (Internet) port. 3. Connect another ethernet cable from one of the remaining 4 LAN ports on the router to the computer's ethernet port.
4. Now power on the Cable Modem ONLY. Wait for the modem to sync up with your service provider 5. After about 2-5 minutes power up the router and wait about 1-2 minutes. 6. Now power on your PC.
Check and see if you have internet access. If not you may have to uninstall any cable modem software related to USB connection. if this is the case, then you may have to repeat steps 4-6.
Since most cable internet providers do not use proprietary connection settings, your internet connection should be up and running without changing any settings in the router or modem.
If this does not resolve your issues, we can continue to work with you.
Try getting a router that has one in/4 out between modem n voip. Your voip unit should have an RJ45 connector to connect to router, not your computer. The USB connector might be to connect the voip to a different type of router, and will not be used. The 2 phone connectors are for two different phone lines that your voip provider can provide you with.
Turn everything off for 2 minutes, cable modem, router and pc.
Turn on modem and wait 2 minutes for the modem to sync to TW. Turn on router after 2 mins and wait until the router syncs with the modem. Turn on PC It sounds like your router lost its connection to the cable modem, which happens from time to time. TW will not help with your router. I worked for a cable co and the router and modem losing sync was the at least 70% of the calls. FYI cable doesn't use DSL,just the phone co.
the prob may b with the ethernet adapter on the computer or the ethernet port on the modem or the ethernet cable.....
