Make sure it's getting fuel. Try using some ether or starting fluid. If it rumbles to life but doesn't stay running then there's a problem with the fuel delivery system. i.e.... Fuel pump, clogged filter, pressure regulator.... If the ether doesn't change the results you are getting now then it's a fire or sensor problem. Ignition coil, relays, sensors not signaling, PCM... I wish you luck. Let us know how it turns out

SOURCE: I was driving my 96

First lets define the codes P 1738 shift time error this is a transmission issue
P1784 Transmission mechanical problem 1st and reverse
P0736 Reverse incorrect gear ratio
P0120 Throttle postion sensor switch malfunction. Here is the fix this now make alot of sense when your TPS sensor fails you will affect the performance of the transmission and hence the transmission codes so replace the throttle position sensor this is much easier than the cranksensor and here is the good thing this sensor has no adjustment just drop and go

Car won't start 2003 Dodge Stratus sxt coupe cranks but won't start what could b the problem? I tried spraying starting fluid in the air system but it still won't start!

i would check and see if spark pluges are firing. you can take one out and plug into spark plug wire then let the bottom of the plug sit on engine and get someone to try to start while you look at the plug to see if there is any fire. if you have no fire or fuel it would be the crankshaft sencer. it could be the timing belt but the motor would sound different turning over then it used to.

My boyfriend hooked a toggle switch up to my fan in my 97 dodge neon, he got the fan to work, but now my car won't start! We thought it just drained the battery, so we tried to jump it, but that

Where did he get the power from to run the fan,if he just used a hot wire from inside the car it most likely blew the fuse for ignition as the engine fan gets its power from a relay in the power distribution box under the hood as far as the fan goes if it ran with the wire then the engine coolant temp sensor is probably bad

Have a 1998 dodge stratus, it has no spark, it cranks fine but won't kick over, I changed the crank sensor and still nothing does anyone have any other solution?

Sound like a short, bad connection to the tach. Check that wiring before you do anything else. Had this problem on a chevy

My 1998 dodge stratus needs to be jump started everyday, what could be the problem

Need to get a meter on that car, auto zone will do it,make sure it's charging.
I am thinking the voltage regulator is not in the alternator.Think it's in the control computer. If it goes bad ,the car won't charge.Instead of buying a computer you can also use an older style (say 1980's) external electronic regulator.have to get a pigtail from a parts store ,hook up 2 wires to the alt. Cap and seal the old wires that used to go to the ECM. Works fine and won't go bad again.

Battery died in my 01 stratus, had it replaced now everything works but car will not turn over at all. What could this be?

hello gator, sounds like the security system has armed itself and needs to be disarmed.
If your stratus is equipped with a valet switch hold it in for 15-20 seconds and try. On the factory systems you should be able to lock and unlock the passenger side door with the key to disarm.
If that don't work, try starting it in neutral. You can also swap the starter relay in the circuit box with another one thats beside it, to test with.
Also, there is fuseable link, strap type fuse located close to the positve jump post under the hood on drivers side. check to see if it's not burnt. the battery placement on these cars sometimes causes an accidently short when they are getting installed. Hopefully this didn't happen, because it could of spiked the engine controller if it did.... Hope this helps....Good luck with the Stratus.
