Sounds like the compression, something is not torque down right, and recheck the timing. did you spin the motor 2 times be hand to see if the timing was on mark

  • Anonymous Nov 07, 2012

I triple checked the torque on everything and the timing I checked at least 5 times. Checked and reset. Yeah I hand cranked it to make sure. I have even called the local Hyundai service center and asked them. I've been reading about having to C.A.S.E relearn if the Crank Position Sensor is changed. I did change it out, also the Cam Sensor. I don't know if it has to be done on this car as I can find nothing about it online or in the service manual. I am totally at a loss. I am going to check the timing one more time and then I am putting it up for sale. I've also checked all the fuses and relays....all good..

SOURCE: 2000 4.0 sohc explorer cold start erratic, almost

timing chains rattle at start up HEELP!!!! <<<<< This Will NOT Set A Code And WILL Cause EP Engine Performance Problems, If the Timing Chain DEVIATES More than 8 Degrees it is NO GOOD for OPTIMUM Engine performance.
The Fact that you have NO CODES Lieves DIAGNOSING it Fairly Simple. Morning Starts (COLD START) is a CLOSED LOOP Condition and by the time it warms up it closes LOOP and the ECM takes over the Timing, and compisates for the LOOSNESS of the Timing Chain by ADVANCING / RETARDING the Timing. thus Good Running when Warmed up. Hope & I Wish you Good Luck with it.

SOURCE: I have replaced timing belt and head gasket after

Sounds like the timing is 180 degrees out. You would have to unhook the belt and turn the crank 360 degrees and put the belt back on. I hope this helps!

Check the fuel pressure and fuel regulator. You can have fuel, but not enough pressure to push threw the injectors.

On 04 Endeavor does the signal wire go from 5 volt to 0 or 0 to 5? As it's turning over.

MITSUBISHI. ACTUAL.
you forgot to say what sensor is at hand to the blind.
but if CKP or CMP (CRANK AND CAM ASE NAMES)
there are 2 kinds of sensors.
HALL
MAG
Hall is 0,5,0v square wave signal,
MAG is very weak 1vAC sign wave signal (as in Faraday coil )
as it cranks.
a scope sees this easy, a DMM not or poorly.,
The cranked engine CkP spins a t 300 RPM and the reluctor tone wheel makes as many as 6 pulse per turn or 30 pulse per second cranked that most DMM can not see, at all , and is why shops all use
a scope or fail hard.
see mine here
https://fixkick.com/IGN_timing/cpk-vr-coil.JPG

see that gap that is the TDC tooth missing on CMP. for #1'
what yours has is in the SM the service manual covers all this
no need to guess or see my 1 of 100000 examples above generic.
WHY NOT USE A SCAN TOOL SEE IF PCM IS HAPPY????????
INVECT-ii SYSTEM THIS 04 CAR.
YOUR CKP IS 3 PINS HALL.
YOUR CMP IS HALL SENSOR TOO,, 5VDC POWERED BOTH
SOME CMP ARE 1 PULSE PER CAM TURN
AND CAM RUNS 150 RPM CRANKED, 2 PULSES PER SECOND
THE ENGINE WILL NOT START IF THE CAM BELT SLIPS
AND THE PCM SEES THAT OUT OF SYNC, SO THE HEAD VALVES DO NOT BEND OVER
NEVER RUN THE CAM BELT OVER 100K MILES IF WISE.NEVAH

what does this mean.?
if there is not one? my guess you took gander at engine and found no CMP?
well sorry there is 1 or 2, 1 for SOHC and 2 for some DOHC and
for sure a crank sensors. CKP + CMP are there at least.
it is there for sure or would never run again<<< facts./

nice chain drive cam.
the 2 cams have 2 ends and I see clear as day a huge boss on the end of one, << bingo for CMP.
getting dtc
DTC P0341?????? i SEE WHY YOU ASK, 99%^ OF WEB SITES CAN'T FIND IT.
L61 HARD, V6 ENGINE EASY FRONT CENTER ABOVE CAM.

THE DOHC , MUST BE THERE AND ON ONE OF 4 ENDS of cams ( I look 4 points and only one has sensors so...)
FOUND IT IN YOU TUBE
L61 AND WAS JUST LIKE I SAID ABOVE THE CAM SHAFT END BOSS , HAS CMP HOUSING.

FACING ENGINE, EXHAUST CAM SHAFT RIGHT SIDE FRONT OF CAR. THERE IT IS, (valve cover full front right end) and the BOSS.

Camshaft sensor cadillac srx

DTC P0016: Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Intake Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 1
DTC P0017: Crankshaft Position (CKP) - Exhaust Camshaft Position (CMP) Correlation Bank 1

• An actuator that is in the full advance or retard position can cause this DTC to set.
• The presence of DTCs P0008 and P0009 along with P0016, P0017, P0018, and P0019 indicates a possible condition with the primary timing chain and the alignment between both intermediate sprockets and the crankshaft. Or, the crankshaft reluctor wheel has moved and is no longer referenced to top dead center (TDC).
• Observing the desired and actual camshaft angle parameters, with a scan tool before a DTC sets, may help to isolate whether a condition is specific to one camshaft, one bank, or caused by a condition with the primary crankshaft timing.

Now do you want to change a sensor an have it not fix the problem .

Why won't my starter crank?

What make vehicle ? Is there a security light lit on the dash. Most all vehicles have a starter relay that is controlled by the PCM engine computer . If there was a problem with the anti-theft system it could act like that . There are a few good videos on you tube . on how to diagnose starter system problems . Your cam an crank correlation problem could be that your timing between the crank an cam are off .

I want to change the timing belt of my car. Can you give me detailed instructions on how to do it.

I have pasted the instructions from autozone.com below, but I never recommend this chore for a novice. If the valve timing is not right, it can ruin your engine. If you have not done this before, I recommend you at least have a mechanic look at the belt before you close up the timing cover.

Removal & Installation

1.7L Engine
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Note the radio security code and the radio presets. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Rotate the crankshaft to set the engine at Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke for the No. 1 piston. The white mark on the crankshaft pulley should align with the pointers on the timing cover. Once the engine is in this position, it must not be disturbed.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle safely. Remove the front tires. Remove the splash shield. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Remove the power steering pump and position it to the side without disconnecting the hoses. Remove the alternator.
  6. Remove the ignition coil cover. Remove the four ignition coils. Remove the throttle cable clamps and harness holder mounting bolts. Remove the cylinder head cover. Remove the crankshaft pulley.
  7. Properly support the engine using a block of wood under the oil pan. Remove the upper bracket.
  8. Remove the grommet from the upper cover. Disconnect the camshaft position (CMP) top dead center (TDC) sensor connector.
  9. Remove the side engine mount bracket.
  10. Remove the crankshaft position (CKP) sensor from the oil pump, without disconnecting the connector.
  11. Apply slight force to the timing belt at the midpoint between the camshaft pulley and the water pump pulley and check that the auto tensioner moves smoothly, if not replace it.
  12. Move the auto tensioner to remove tension from the timing belt. Remove the timing belt.

Fig. TDC alignment mark locations for the crankshaft sprocket-1.7L engine

46a4de6.jpg Fig. Timing belt sprocket TDC mark positioning for timing belt installation-1.7L engine

  1. Set the crankshaft to TDC. Align the TDC mark on the timing belt drive pulley with the pointer on the oil pump.
  2. Set the camshaft to TDC. The UP mark on the camshaft pulley should be at the top. Align the TDC marks on the camshaft pulley with the top edge of the cylinder head.
  3. Install the timing belt in a counterclockwise sequence, starting with the drive pulley.
  4. As required, replace the auto tensioner assembly.
  5. Continue the installation in the reverse order of the removal procedure.
  6. Reprogram the ECM/PCM engine idle characteristics. Be sure all electrical items are OFF.
  7. Start the engine. Hold the idle speed at 3000 RPM-s in park or neutral until the radiator fan comes on or the temperature reached 194 degrees.
  8. Let the engine idle for about five minutes with the throttle fully closed.
  9. If the radiator fan comes on during the five minutes, do not count this toward the five minute programming time.
  10. Set the clock.
