This rear projection set does not per say have a control module and if has a high voltage splitter it is up front----follow the large red wire from the flyback to it.

The deflectionmodule will be almost impossible to get. However it sounds like you quite possibly only need a flyback 259296 and the HV splitter which are the two most common items to fail. you can get both parts at the following link along with free online tech support so you can repair your set yourself, or they can rebuild your Circuit board. Leave them a email include the model number and what you need.

The model listed is an older set----usually if it HAS the splitter it is up front----but most there is not one as it is part of the high voltage transformer----look on the label on the rear where model number is for a Chassis number, that will tell me instantly if a splitter exists or not PTK-------

I change module 267147r only works for 1 min

Most likely the modules you put in also blew again.

The reason is that there is a fault in another section of the set. For an example, the main power supply may also be defective. If its output voltages are not in spec damage will be done.

Many times when there are failures it is very important also locate the cause of the failure. This type of diagnostics can be involved and will require experience with a solid knowledge of the TV set, the proper test equipment, tools, and the service manuals.

The authorized service center is equiped, and has properly trained technicians that can service your set.

I hear a sound like a shortcircuit on backside?

Hello eduquiros,

First of all I think you are hearing a clicking sound right? That noise is due to the HV shutdown circuit activating, indicating that excessive current is being drawn. Now the fact that the TV is on is indicating that the current level is right at the point of shutdown, now I would like to know if you have the schematics for this TV? If so locate the input to the HV trippler and measure the voltage with a HV probe, and compare it to the value on the schematic. In addition you say you have a convergence problem, for that I would say you have to change out your convergence amplifier modules.

Now let's get the the over all issue here: Do you have electronics experience? if so you will need a HV probe, a multimeter, and a pattern generator to solve this problem. If you have these pieces of equipment great, if not you will have to get them. If you do not know what these pieces of equipment are, close the TV up and have a TV repair person come and give you an estimate on the repair costs.

If this were in my shop I would triage the issues you are having,

First find that sound you are hearing (the exact location) and determine if it is a clicking noise or a burning noise (arcing).

Second repair that convergence problem, compare the voltage readings with the schematic

Third repair the HV issue

This should leave you with a working TV.

REMEMBER if you do not have electronics experience, have a TV technician take a look at this set.

I hope this helps

Thank you,

ProScan wont turn on

PS52690 52" projection TV (CTC188 series) that won't power up. From what I have read here and other places, the most common cause of this is the HV splitter. Actually, when the unit was 3 years old, the HV splitter went out and had to be replaced but it was under warranty at the time. I have found that the part I need is 205064 and runs around $40-$70
A post in another thread said that you could test to see if the HV splitter is really the problem by disconnecting the HV anode (big red wire) from the flyback (not the splitter since that will arc), plug the TV in, power it up, and if the power stays on and you hear sound, replace the HV splitter to fix the problem.
