Question about Samsung RS265TDBP Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Freezer not freezing. Especially on the top shelves. I can somewhat feel air coming out on the lower shelf just above the drawers but on the top shelf I feel nothing. Cleaned the coils and vents checked to make sure the compressor fan was operating and it is. Fridge side seems to be okay. The freezer is definitely the problem side. Looking at the control panel on the back of the fridge there are 2 red LED's that are lit. One says LED1 (this was not lit until I unplugged the unit for about 10-15 mins to let the unit reset and then plugging it back in). The other light that's lit up on the control panel/board is the LMP1 light. I can't seem to find any information of whether or not these are fault lights or normal operation lights. Any help would be more than appreciated.

Look at the back of the freezer wall to see if there is any ice buildup. You may need to pull the back wall to look also. Post back your findings.

Richard, Last night I pulled everything out of the freezer and removed the back panel in order to gain access to the fan and the coils. I did notice that the coils were iced over . However, there was no ice around the fan and or in the vents/duct work. The fan moved freely and to be honest the amount of ice while thick in areas wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I then proceeded to defrost the coil about 95% using an blow dryer. Put everything back together and it seemed to be working again. This morning the temp was where it should be in the freezer. I'm not sure if it has to due with defrosting the coil, or the reset via unplugging or on the control panel but it's working again. What I'd really like to know is if it's a problem with a control panel or the sensor. I'll replace what ever it is just so this doesn't happen again. We lost about $50 in food and we are lucky we didn't lose our supply of ****** milk for the little one. Any idea's of what I need to replace?

Replace the defrost thermostat. This would be the first thing to change since the coils were iced up and it is cheap. Here is the part to order.http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/clic...

Thank you very much for the info. Ordering it now! Any reason the 1 light on the back of the unit wasn't lit on the large motherboard? The small board's light was lit. But the one that says LED1 on the large board wasn't until I did the reset. Not sure if there's a reason for this or not.

I'm not sure either. Try the defrost thermostat first and see how it acts. Keep me updated.

Richard, It seems to have failed once again with the new part in it. Now there is an error code I can pull up that reads " 24 E ". I can't for the life of me figure this unit out. I can't even find the fault or error codes online. Any idea? Also the LED's in the back of the unit are no longer lit up. Smell a faint electrical smell and the only thing I can think is that possibly both of the circuit boards are shot.

Check the coil on the back of the unit to see if it is good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DM1. You should see a spike of resistance and a slow drop to zero if it is good. Here is the coil to order in case you find it bad.http://bit.ly/Tygp9b

SOURCE: Samsung RS2556 - Refrigerator side is not cooling - Freezer is fine

Ok, what I found out is that there are codes built into the front panel. If you hold the top left and right buttons for 5 seconds, the fridge will reset. If there are no issues, the panel goes blank. If there is a dash in the right side of the panel, there is an issue with the fridge side. In the left, freezer side. The dash indicates a defrost problem. Only a couple of things can cause this. 1. Sensor 2. Heater 3. Fan, 4. control board.

SOURCE: loud noise from the freezer side

The problem is a buildup of ice on the plastic housing (the curved plastic bit) in the back of the freezer under the fixed shelf where the icetub goes. The fan behind this plastic housing is hitting the ice when the defrost comes on.

Unplug the fridge, unpack the freezer, remove the four screws in the back, take off the sheetmetal backing and let the fridge thaw. You can remove the plastic piece after a while and get the ice off (be careful not to remove the styrofoam insulation by going too quickly).

Reassemble and you're back in business, for a few months. I'm never buying Samsung again myself.

The top two shelves are not freezing and the food on those shelves and that area of the door have defrosted. The bottom seems to be freezing. I can hear the fan running and do not feel any drafts from

Obviously that freezer is not achieved the required temperature. There are several reasons for that:
- Defrosting system is not working, which leads to accumulation too much ice on the evaporator that prevents heat transfer and reduces air circulation despite the fan is running.
- The problem with draining condensate after defrosting cycle which also leads to accumulation of ice.
- Leaking gas from the cooling system (reduced cooling capacity)
- Faulty compressor

Frost build up especially on top shelf all other shelves except one gets a 3 inch layer of ice in approx 4 months. The freezer is kept in a mod temp basement room and the freezer door is opened less than...

Things you can do to cut down on frost.
1.make sure all seals fit flush to frame.
2.use a thermometer and set freezer to -18c(beef will keep upto 12months).
3.wrap all food as airtight as poss.
3.do not overfill, leave space for air flow through drawers/shelves.
4.defrost every 2/3 months in humid conditions using clorine bleach to clean interior, and dry thoroughly.(leave door open to dissipate clorine gas.)

Both top sections fridge/freezer of my side by side are not cold

Sounds like a defrost problem. Remove food from freezer section, take the back wall out after removing shelves, and use a hair blower to melt off the ice and frost. Most likely you need to replace the defrost heater.

Fridge and freezer warm at top, colder but not normal on lower shelves

How old is this frig? If it is older that 12-15 years, get a new one. Make sure there is not blockage to keep the air from circulating properly. The vent from the freezer to the cooler should also be free from blockage as well.

open the freezer compartment loo for ice build up on floor of frezer especally towards rear behind back panel. sounds like you have a clogged/frozen defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials)
