This may sound silly but did you check (or have the means to check) for voltage at the outlet? The absolute bottom line is that if there is no power.......you get the rest.

Here is a good link for basic troubleshooting... But 10 to one the culprit is a thermal fuse or thermal cut off.... they are usually pretty cheap and easy to replace....

One final note on these: if you find your thermal fuse\cut off (or element)
open, before replacing it, be sure to check the airflow out your dryer's
vent system. Even though these devices do 'wear out' with age, poor
airflow's the #1 cause of failure of these devices, and if your vent's
partially clogged, a new thermal won't last very long, but will do its
job again, and leave you
'cold' (a new element won't last long if the vent's clogged,
either).

sorry for not being technical about this, its just aggravating. first my fridge and now my dryer. the other day i got a load out of the dryer that was already done in half the time of the cycle. usually i would have to run the load 2 or 3 times before it got dry. well i didnt think anything of it so i put another load in. i went and hit the timer and than pushed the on/off button and nothing. didnt hear the timer ticking or nothing.but if i put the timer in a different setting itll tick. i thought the timer could be bad but couldn't find nothing wrong so i checked the wiring, nothing. checked the motor and the switch. nothing. i cant find a thing wrong. all the switches look good. there are some areas were the connections are a little charred but they make connection. the breaker is brand new and so is the wiring.
