Im working on a 2005 Kia Optima 2.7L I did a timing belt i had to take the heads off and have them done it's a interfernce motor and bent valve's, after i get it all back together i go to start it turns over fine but did'nt run, did'nt want to fire so i check for spark, No spark. so what do you think the coilpack went bad????

I had a valve job and the timing marks are right on the money, It just has no spark i had spark before i took it apart and i know eveything is connected

OK i figured out what happen? when i was removing the heads you have to disconnect everything well the wire on the crankshaft position sensor was real hard do to heat and broke the wire shorted out thats why i had no spark....

Probably no circuit for the crank sensor from wires not connected or the cam position sensors not connected
possible that the immobilizer is activated from a disconnected battery
do a compression test because if you fitted the heads then turned the camshafts over to get the valve timing before backing the valve adjustment right off you will again have bent valves

SOURCE: car dies when driving, check engine light comes on.

There is a good chance it could be your fuel pump , however if the check engine light is coming on and the dealer cant tell you what is wrong , try a different dealer or another shop. Second opinions never hurt.

SOURCE: ENGINE WONT TURN OVER

sounds like the timing belt it has a interference engine so if the timing belt broke you could have bent rods and cracked pistons or worse. good luck

SOURCE: I have a 2000 vw beetle 2.0 with no compression,

you may need to go back and check that your belt was installed correctly. it could be out several degrees.

2003 Kia optima run good til turn off and now won't start. Cranked and cranked til the starter made high pitch crank sound like it wasn't getting pressure. Noticed the surpintine turned but not timing

sounds like you need to replace the timing belt and possibly need to have the cylinder head repaired if it bent the valves, put the belt first and if it doesn't have compression then you'll need to have the head repaired

Diagnosing no fire and and warmed positive battery post/terminal after changing the timing belt on 3.4L

the worry is that the battery post is getting hot
that indicates a dead short ,probably at the starter motor terminal
the engine is classified as a interference engine so there will be bent valves from the broken belt
with the engine not turning over and you didn't mention any head work it is very possible that a valve is bent and jamming on the piston stopping it moving and that is overloading the starter and heating up the battery post
Looks like it is back to square one and do it again

Timing belt slipped 2005 Kia Optima

I would change the belt and do a compression check before starting the engine. That will show any distorted valves.

Pull the door panel and find the cause, it can be a faulty lock motor or the linkage rod has come off due to a broken retainer clip.

I had my timing belt changed after breaking on my 2004 Kia Optima, it caused valve damage and my bill was $1,295.00. About 4 months later it broke again causing the whole motor to explode now the car...

On smaller engines the timing belt should be checked regularly. When the belt breaks the camshaft stops turning and valves stay open at wrong time but the pistons keep moving and come up to top of cyclender and crash into the valves causing the first bit of damage. What I think happen to cause it to break again prematurly was somthing was still bent from first time causing resistance on belt which caused belt to break second time. These engines cant take that kind of abuse once never mind twice.I dont think second belt was installed wrong to cause this.Like I said the mechanic missed somthing bent or damaged the first time. But unfourtunatly this will be hard to prove.Unless you requested and still have old parts from first time work was done and can prove that it was mechanic neglegants.Good Luck.

Timing belt broke on 2005 Kia Optiima. Is the engine wrecked? worth it to replace engine?

that is an interference engine, so if it was running when it broke, chances are very good that the valves are bent, at least-in worst case situations, pistons can be damaged too, but I would have the head removed and have the valves redone-while off, the top of the engine can be checked out. Timing bests are supposed to be replaced every 60,000 miles.

How do I replace the timing belt and the crankshaft sensor ?

if you have never done one take it to a shop because if you have the timing off a little you take a chance of bending valves then you would need a new head
