Close when play vcr

I put my tape in the machine it starts but then about 7 minutes playing it closes. It doesn't do that if I play a dvd. It does it when I put my tape on fastforward or on play but not if i just put in on vcr. Was playing fine recently. Thanks for your help

Made a mistake in the previous post it's not 7 minutes playing but 7 seconds playing. It just stop and powers off.

I've been ask to put more details. Let see; my machine is a dual dvd/vhs. The DVD part works fine, it's the VHS part that as a problem. When I put a tape in the vhs part, it plays for 7 second and then it shuts off, even if I put a tape and fastforward it. I unplug the video and put the setting back to original but without succes.

Once it shut off if i power it up again it kicks the tape out

Update: Today I tried it again. Now when it's on forward on rewind it doesn't close but as soon that I push play it runs for 5-7 seconds and then shut off. Please help me!

Problem in the mechanism that moves the tape in play,ff,rewind and also winds tape back into cassette and ejects it.

Likely a bad or worn belt or drive idler(rubber).

SOURCE: I can't play any VCR tapes or DVD's in my Magnavox. Shows E1

Hi All, I realize this post may be a bit late for some but I just bought this unit myself on 12-22-08. After reading the pdf manual I downloaded from an earlier post the description of "E1" and "E2" is on page 20 and more details are on pages 35 & 36.

"E1" is the display indicator the unit is looking for a External input signal or Line Mode. "E1" External input on the rear, "E2" External input on the front. No signal present so the unit shuts off.

I suggest changing/setting your record channel or source before starting any record mode steps. Hope this helps.

My VCR/DVD combo wont play a VHS tape when inserted. Each time I insert a VHS tape, it shoots it right back out and sometimes unravels the tape around the apparatuses inside the VCR. It won't reco

the tape coming back out and unravels the tape means the loading mechanism is the problem----when a tape goes in it loads the tape down, then it pulls the tape out of the cassette and puts it up against the drum with the video heads-----many of these are belt driven and a bad belt or belts will cause this----it is called the loading and or transport mechanism.......when it fails the arms come back but the tape does not get rewound back into the cassette so it mangles it when the cassette door on the tape closes----most likely a belt or the drive idler which also rewinds and fast forwards the tape.

The DVD works fine but the VCR doesn't play, rewind or forward tape.

l would have a look inside to see if when a tape is inserted it loads and will ff and rew, if the transport that moves the tape has failed it will account for what is happening.

GoVideo DVD/VCR combo has a disc in it, and it plays, but I cannot ejecti it. I tried turn off machine and restart it but it still doesn't eject. It keeps reading the disc and plays the program.

there is a belt which is driven by a motor to open or close the tray. u place the disc on the try and the try loads the dvd/cd into the mechanism. the belt is loose & needs replacement. you have to open the cover & find the belt on the mechanism & replace with slightly shorter length of belt.

You're describing what could be a loose or worn loading belt problem, most of the vcr mechanisms used in these combos use one to load the tape and thread it for it to play or record, that is why you have to keep puhing the tape untill the machine accepts the tape and you have to keep pressing play untill it starts the play function.

Sansui DVD/VCR remote control issue, VCR works/DVD does not-black

There should be a DVD/VCR button on the remote control which will toggle the machine from one playback source to another. If she has pressed the VCR button then the machine will only playback tapes & not show DVD's. Press this button & the DVD's should play. If you look closely at the front window of the machine it will show what mode it is in ie VCR or DVD, set this for the DVD to get it to play.

Try playing a CD instead of a DVD, if the audio CD plays normally that means that the laser on the DVD side is defective. This devices come with 2 laser picks, one for CD and the other one for DVDs.
