i'm having the exact same problem and not one person at the sprint store is willing to give me a straight answer. i found this on the internet:
I was able to make it to the
Sprint store on Monday. The tech there told me that the Treo 755 series
has this speakerphone/audio problem that they've been seeing alot
Here's what to expect if it happens to you:
- your speakerphone button goes away - you will not hear the phone ringing or anyone speaking at the other end - you must use the headset that comes with the phone to hear anything - you most likely won't be able to use any other headset - you will not be able to hear incoming calls but you will be able to make outgoing calls using the official headset only - you can get your voice mail messages using the official headset only - you will not be able to hear music, radio, tv, or any audio whatsoever - soft or hard reset will do nothing - your bluetooth headset will not pair with the phone
a real drag using those official headsets, how do people get them to
stay i their ears I wonder? Mine keeps falling out no matter how I
shove the thing in there. But at least I can use the thing until the
Hopefully you've purchased the $3/month
plan to replace your phone if it fails because you will need a new
phone. I'm now waiting for the phone to come into the store, they're
currently out of stock.
I think I've covered it all. I wanted to
be sure to let everyone else know about this problem. Make sure you
back-up & synch your phone alot to save your data.
you can check if you speaker is broken by using a set of headphones. if you don't hear sound when using your headphones there is something wrong with your software settings. if you do hear sounds using your headphones you need to replace your speaker. You can buy a replacement speaker on ebay and do this yourself, of search for someone to do if for you.
If you still have warranty on your phone just return it to the shop that sold the phone.
First check and adjust call volume. It should set be optimal and secondly during a call adjust the microphone volume.
If this is ok and the problem exsist then the microphone, speaker or some other hardware need to be replaced. Contact local hardware expert.
Your ear speaker is bad. You may need to replace it.. This one made by HTC. You can check on Ebay for replacement part. Other issue could be is the hardware part of the ear speaker may be broken or defected will cause loosing contact with the main circuit or you can say it is short. Only solution is open the phone and check for that area to see for any defective.
It is simple. Mine did the same. All I did was replace the speaker! it is now working !
This seems to be a common problem. An advice I got to minimize the chances of this happening again was to try to not to put at max volume and minimize the use of sound on screen touches etc...?If thes can be turned off it would be better.. so they say .:O)
