hi, it went dead after 2 or 3 seconds. Went out with a BANG (loud noise, like something blew inside microwave). When I replaced blown fuse, new one blew up immediately.Where can I see a schematic parts diagram of microwave, so I know which parts are what? How do you discharge capacitor ? (I understand there is a lot of power retained in capacitor and dangerous to touch ?Thank you for your advice.

    If it went dead almost
immediately after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a shorted
    high-voltage capacitor.

If it went dead several seconds after pressing the Start pad, that's usually a failing
    high-voltage transformer.

    Which sounds like your situation?

Don't worry about the monitor switch unless
it goes dead or blows the breaker (or GFI) when you plug it in or open
    or close
    the door.

What causes microwave to blow new fuse?

The only thing inside a microwave oven that draws enough current to blow a fuse is the magnetron that generates the microwaves to provide the cooking power. Based on the age of the unit (approx 15 years) it is most likely best to just replace it as repairs at that level are not cost effective. Newer units cook better and faster using less power these days.

test the following steps and fix it.use the VOM3eb53373-1eb1-4bb3-9641-1a202781b5bf.gif God bless you
1. No power to outlet (overload or fault in microwave or other appliance).
2. Blown main fuse - likely due to other problems.
3. Open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
4. Defective controller or its power supply.
5. Clock needs to be set before other functions will operate (some models).

I believe mine blew a fuse as well

Usually, when your microwave oven doesn't work it all, the internal fuse (thermal fuse) is blown. This fuse protects both you and the oven. When it blows, you need to have a qualified appliance repair technician replace it.
many people have been electrocuted with an unplugged microwave due to the enormous residual charge inside.

you can now get a new microwave at walmart for fifty bucks..........why monkey with a ten year old unit.

Monitor Switch Part Number?

They might be referring to a diode connected to the big silver capicitor and screwed to the case.
These can go short circuit causing the fuse to fail.

Location of monitor switch for Sharp R-5A54B microwave

It's usually the one in the center, as opposed to the being near the top or bottom edge of the door.

The entire service manual is available for free download on the Sears parts site (page by page) at http://www3.sears.com/ (the 3 is correct)

Just look for the switch as ref # 1-7 on this diagram:
