Craftsman 18 in 36cc chainsaw, will run like a Raped Ape for 10 min then stalls out when squeezing trigger, replaced Spark plug and cleaned filter, full of gas, but at a loss as to why?

Cleaned the Fuel Filter which helped, seems no one carries replacement filters, even Sears, so I ordered on-line, which will take afew days, but think this will solve my problem, if it does, I'll change mt rating to FIXYA - Thanks for your Help

Still have the same problem, changed fuel and air filters, fresh gas, carb bolts are tight, cleaned the saw, just don't know what else to try.

when it stalls will it Immediatly restart?

    what is throttle response like?

if will not restart or repeats same loosen gas cap to reduce vacuum lock then retighten, retry,

if this helps check for pinched vent line or other tank venting issues.

Don't run or start with cap loose.

Fuel is induced into the engine via the diaphram to the carburator. If the diaphram is weak or has a hole in it, it will run out of gas just like you discribed..

I would change the in tank fuel filter. Do this by draining the fuel and fishing it out with a stif piece of wire it is conected to a rubber fuel line in the tank. Also check to make shur the screws that hold the carburator to the engine are tight.

Chainsaw trips circuit breaker

Does the circuit breaker trip before squeezing the switch? Check the power cord - there's a short

Does the chain move freely before squeezing the switch? If not, and the circuit breaker trips while squeezing the switch, your chain is too tight.

Bottom line - tell us when the breaker trips and what you were doing when it tripped.

I have a poulan pro chainsaw it runs fine when choked but when i squeeze the trigger it dies what is wronr with it

It is running too lean, start with the simple things first, replace the fuel filter in the tank, check all the fuel hoses for signs of damage or fuel leaks, replace as required, if all these things are ok, you need to richen up the mixture screws on the carb ( you may need special tools to do this if they are anti tamper screws ) unscrew 1/8 turn on each and try again.

455 rancher runs for about 5 min. than stalls and wont start until cold than problem repeats

Sounds like a fuel problem. Something might be expanding as the saw warms up and is cutting off the fuel or introducing an air leak. Carby may require a new kit and check the fuel line

My saw starts fine, runs great for about 5-10 minutes, then dies. If I let it sit for another 5-10 minutes it fires first pull and runs strong- for about 5-10 min then dies. Any ideas? Thanks.

Hello. Check the filter in the bottom of the fuel tank, I am betting that it is partially gummed up and restricting the flow of fuel. Regards, Joe

Stihl saw 026 runs 5-10 min won't stay running and backfires

5 to 10 minutes is a long time and the 026 is a fairly old saw. If it is running 5 to 10 minutes and not 5 to 10 seconds, you probably just have a worn engine. Clean the saw inside very thououghlr and try Amoco white gas. You should be able to reduct the heating and get more run time. A carb rebuild might also help some but in hot weather it is not unusual for chain saws to vapor lock.

Chain saw stalls after a bout 10 minutes of operation. Will not

make sure your gas cap is vented. If it stalls and you open the gas cap and then reclose it and it then starts then you are getting a vacuum lock in your fuel system from not having a faulty gas cap. hope this helps
