Question about Campbell Hausfeld 26 - Gallon Air Compressor

Open Question

I have a CH Model WL611701 air compressor that will only get to 20psi after about 5 minutes of running and then will make knocking noises. Any suggestions?

The pump does get rather warm. I removed the exhaust tube from the tank and the pump worked well without overheating. When i reconnect however, it takes about 5 minutes just to get up to 20psi and then the knocking sound appears. Thanks for your suggestions.

SOURCE: Compressor will not start

It is a good sign that the motor turns freely with and without air. That indicates that you have good bearings and that the intank check valve is in good condition. Next you should check the capacitors and the condition of the windings. Some motors have start and run capacitors and others only have run cap. Remove from the circuit and test with meter having cap. test setting. Most shops will test them for free. The cap should test within 95% of stated ( uf ) value. Replace as needed. Finally check that the flyball switch at rear inside of motor is functioning correctly. At rest, switch is at start winding, then a split second after start, it shifts to run winding. Check contacts are not stuck and that switch is working and lastly that the winding are the color of new penny. Good luck.

Air conditioner compressor will not turn off.

The low pressure switch cuts power to the compressor if the pressure drops below 20psi such as when the system is low on freon.
If the compressor runs with the HVAC system in the off position, you would check for a stuck relay, or a short where the compressor clutch is getting power from another source.

I have a 21 gallon 4hp peak motor Central Pneumatic oil lubricated Model 47065 air compressor and it will not go to over 20 psi and it will just keep running

Possible that there is leak on the system or the piston/rings/cylinder has worn out. Also check for oil within the unit. Check the compression of the cycle and if this is too low it means that there is wear and tear and will require a overhauling and reset.

Knocking noise coming from bottom of refrigerator

check the compressor for operation adn check the fan in the back of unit to make sure it is running...whirlpool units are notorious for compressor relay failure normally they click in and out every few minutes... if it is a knocking noise and continuous make sure compressor is not trying to start and sitting there shaking... normally it will stop after a few minutes and then start again....

Hi; Try turning it off for 10 min. Then turn on and remember codes. I hope You still have a user manual You can sometimes find conditions exist with Your codes...Usually after a sudden loss of voltage the compressor will go into a time out so freon pressures can equalize...Thus not puting an excessive load on MR. Knocking noise coming from Whirlpool Gold refrigerator

I also have a new Whirlpool Gold fridge (bottom freezer with French doors) and it was making a knocking sound. The knocking sound would start when the fridge kicks in and starts running to cool, and would last for about a minute or less and be a slow knock.
I called Whirpool customer service since it is new and on warranty. They sent out a technician and he said the knocking is from gas/air built up in the copper tubing for the freezer because the copper tubing is too cold, and when the fridge first turns on it forces the air through, making the knocking sound.
His "fix" was to adjust the copper tubing so that it is closer to the heat of the motor/compressor and heat of another copper line so that the cooler line stays warm so the air/gas doesn't build up. His fix worked slightly, but the fridge is still knocking, just not as bad and not as long - it knocks fast for about 5 to 10 seconds instead of a minute.
Going to call customer service again soon and see where to go from here.
