Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-S40 Digital Camera
There is a simple solution which may work temporarily - I am using it regularly: Hold the camera and, with the camera on, use your thumb to push simultaneously all four arrow buttons and the center button. If you are lucky, the screen will now work normally. You may have to switch off the timer or the flash depending on how the camera interpreted your 5-button push.
Alternatively, for (I suppose) a more permanent fix there is a YouTube video demonstrating how to take the camera apart, clean a ribbon connector, and remove two tabs from the front cover. You can find it here: http://www.diytrailcams.com/?forum=236367
