Question about Apple iPhone 3G

My iphone 3g will not charge or be recognized by itunes! How Do I fix this?

I just recently got an iPhone 3G from my friend who had stopped using it since this summer. She reset the phone, but after that it wasn't able to charge or even get passed the apple logo screen! I tried to charge it overnight, but it didn't seem to charge as well. And once I tried to connect it to iTunes when the USB + Itunes logo showed up, the phone would not show up under the device category in my iTunes. What should I do? How can I solve and restore my iPhone? ~I just cleaned the ports today and found a tons of dust and stuff in there, but I don't really know whether it helped much or not because it is still not charging.

The phone would not even reach the screen with the slide to unlock. It is just looping between the red battery and the apple logo screen! I have put it into recovery mode and connected it to iTunes, but iTunes would not recognize the device!

I recently had the same problem...have you turned the phone off, all the way off where you have to slide to power off, and then restarted it? I thought mine was not charging but it actually was when I powered it back up.

Iphone wont charge thro laptop

Your dock connector needs to be replaced. Tthere are third party iPod repair services, that will fix it for cheap. Also, I found an DYI iPod repair guide, so you can do it yourself too, not that difficult. Part is available on Ebay.If you can't do it yourself, have a tech savy friend do it for you.

In certain situations, an iPhone will automatically go into recovery mode after an update or restore issue. If your device is already in recovery mode, you can attempt to restore using iTunes.

Please follow steps on this link http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414

Note: Restoring your device will delete all the data from your iPhone or iPod touch, including songs, videos, contacts, photos, calendar information, and any other data. All iPhone or iPod touch settings are restored to their factory condition.

I have a problem. My iphone 3g charges from the wall but won't interact with the computer at all. Have tested the lead and the port and computer with another iphone. Also reinstalled Itunes. Any ideas?

Try opening itunes before you connect iphone 3g. It should recognize it instantly. Also, notice if the display on the iphone changes. If it does then it means windows does recognize it.
You should also try using another port (most PCs/Laptops have atleast 2 hi-speed ports). Otherwise i suggest you ask apple support directly via http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1495
