Flash is intermittent or doesn't flash at all. I have tried different settings and flash modes with the same results. Low light pictures that are un-usable.

First of all, be advised that flashes are designed to light people just a few meters away, so that their faces are visible at night or when there's backlighting (very bright/sunny background and dark faces). It will not, for instance, have any effect on a landscape photo taken at night.
Please check if your camera has a manual flash mode. If so, you can set it up so that the flash will fire every time. Check the user's manual for the proper procedure.

Canon Ixus 95. When taking pictures of people with dark clothes, the face and background (a stone wall in this case) become white and undefined. Is there a solution?

Sounds like your camera is exposing for the dark clothes and over-exposing the face. You could set the "exposure compensation" down a notch or two in this case for a better exposure.

Why did you do ccd-adj before cleaning the optics?

in copiers front door must be sheet with numbers that are factory input, do the clear all, and then set the values from paper in service mode.

Very dark picture on TV

Try restoring all factory settings. On your remote, press the reset button twice. If that doesn't correct it, then you'll probably need a repair technician. For more info, consult your owners manual, which is also available at

Copies and outgoing fax quality

your machine most likely has toner spills in it.
if you send faxes face side down follow these instructions ;
1- take out toner
2- look for thin glass strip on bottom inside the machine
3-wipe clean

if you make copies side up then do the same except look for glass strip on the upper side of machine

Strange silhouetting and a vertical strip

If A vertical strip appears on the screen when recording a dark background or the subject is blooming or silhouetting, you need to adjust the BLC. * The contrast between the subject and the background is too great for the camcorder to operate normally. * Make the background brighter to reduce the contrast or use the BLC function while you are recording in a brighter environment. BLC (Back light Compensation) * BLC works in CAMERA/M.REC mode.B * Back lighting exists when the subject is darker than the background: 1. The subject is in front of a window. 2. The person to be recorded is wearing white or shiny clothes and is placed against a bright background; the person?s face is too dark to distinguish his/her features. 3. The subject is outdoors and the background is overcast. 4. The light sources are too bright. 5. The subject is against a snowy background. 1. Set the power switch to CAMERA mode. 2. Press the BLC button. Normal - BLC - Normal BLC enhances the subject. Notes: * When NITE PIX to set to ON, the BLC function does not work. * The BLC function will not operate in EASY mode.
