Firstly remove your scanner what you have now. Then restart your computer. Now install your scanner driver and also restart your computer. Now try it. I hope it will be fine now.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: Problems with batch scans and with filing using a non-Nikon code system

Did you try saving your choice of settings as user settings ? That way, they will serve as defaults for all subsequent scans.

Will not recognize 5th image on negative strip because 4 and 5 overlap (slight double exposure). How do I scan 5th image?

I inserted my negative holder in backwards on my Nikon 5000 35 mm scanner. Then I could get the last (5th) slide scanned. But I can not get the scanner to work on my new IMac because of no working driver. Silver Fast has no drivers for the Nikon 5000

Color restoration on ektrachrome slides

For individuals such as yourself, I recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements. Some of the scanners have built-in color correction tools. However, it's often better to make an uncorrected scan and correct in Photoshop or another editing program. Essentially you need to remove minor color casts to make the slides representation accurate to the original subject.

Software hangs, shows "acquiring scan" and "image data is being received" but no image is ever displayed. I have tried, uninstalling the software, downloading the updated version for Vista (4.03), same...

I have had this problem. It has given me hours of frustatation. It would start the scanning process then it would stop or hang at any point along the process.
I did the usb thing, no good.
What I found was the warmer the day got the sooner it got buggy. I dont blame the scanner, I am pretty sure the problem lies in the PC. The PC heat doesnt seem to affect any other programs, or not that I can tell. It is only when scanning. It also seems that that the more things I add like roc and gem the sooner it gets buggy. Sometimes if I turn these off and it will run a bit more but it will eventually not scan at all. It will all be good after I turn it all off and let it cool down. I have let the scanner cool down before trying again while leaving the computer on but it still stops while scanning.
I scan my slides singularly and from photshop. This does not affect the bugginess.
I dont use ice on my kodachromes as it seems to get buggy and chops out power lines.
I use a soft puffy brush from a camera shop to clean the slide.
I have some issues with flairing but only on a few slides. I turn down the analog gain helps only a tiny bit. I try to fix it in photoshop.

Good luck

Unsharp scans

Sometimes this is caused by scanning a Kodachrome or thick emulsion slide on the "Positive" setting. Set it to Kodachrome and try again.

Sometimes this is caused by dust on the reflector mirror. I know it was a big problem here.
Ifyour scanner is under warranty, you can ship it in to have itcleaned to their service center, or if not, you can give it a shot yourself. Iwould only do this if you are a mechanically inclined person and arewilling to do it RIGHT. Here's a link to instructions:
http://www.pearsonimaging.com/articles/howto/ls5000cleaning.html
Irecommend reading through it at least once before beginning, and makesure you've got the materials you need on hand as well as a cleanworkspace. It worked on our machines. I give them a once over every so often to keep them sharp.

I have been scanning slides from my HP3310 all in one and have found that dark images will not scan. Is there something I can do about this. Chris

the light in the scanner is not so powerful that it cannot read the dark images properly.
you can do one thing using adobe photoshop reduse the dark ness of the images and then try to scan it will.
hope this helps....

Scanning monochrome negatives on Coolscan 5000ED

Your killing yourself how big are you going to print this!!! Are you using Vuescan or silverfast for scanning or Nikons util? Stay away from Nikons utility! 2x sample is plenty and turn off ICE for monochrome (it makes a mess of things) but 16 bit yes until you print then go down to 8 after you resize for final print.

LS5000 ED with slidefeeder sf 210

Hi there I had the same problem with auto focus sf-210.
If tried many things to correct the problem and what I found was that if you you put a small book halfway on the opposite site of the power button then I have maybe 1 or to slides out of focus and the other 35 slides are perfect ! (I used it with HAMA slides other slides I didn't test )

Hope this wil work also for you,
